Founded in 1972 by Jeanne Manford in New York City, Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) has grown into a national non-profit organization with over 200,000 members and supporters and over 500 affiliate chapters in the United States. This vast grassroots network is cultivated, resourced and serviced by the PFLAG national office, located in Washington, D.C., the national Board of Directors and 14 Regional Directors.
PFLAG is not affiliated with any ethnic, religious, economic, or political group. Our purpose is to confidentially help families and friends to understand and accept homosexuality, while helping to raise awareness and acceptance in the community.
