Hot-V was born on July 17 in Palatka, Fl. He grew up in the small town near Jacksonville with his older brother Brian and younger sister Tina. In school, V was an All-State and All-Conference defensive back football player as well as a track star. However, his first love was music. Growing up, he was inspired by LL Cool J and Scarface and soon realized he was destined to be a star. "When I was 15 my parents bought me a 2-track recorder and Ive been recording my music ever since," says Hot-V.
Like many rappers in the game, V fell victim to the dope game at a young age. At 17, he was influenced by his brother and other niggaz on the block, who were into selling drugs. After several run-ins with the law, at the age of 21, Hot-V decided to leave Palatka and move to Orlando to pursue his music career. As the years went by and being introduced to different producers, V found it difficult to find stability. "At the time, Florida was mostly known for bass music so to be taken seriously as a lyrical rapper was difficult," explains V. As frustration set in, he sought out to find money the only way he knew how, which was hustlin'. He went full force back into the dope game which eventually landed him nine months in prison and three years probation.
Having lost many things in his life, including time, Hot-V started to get a sense of urgency about his music. He knew he had a different vibe than other southern artists that would set him apart. "I'm really country. Its more than my slang or my style, I actually live it everyday. I grew up on a farm with chickens and shit," says V, of his appeal. Hot-V has opened up for Mystical and performed in front of Goodie Mob, UGK, and Too Short. He has also done charity events, open mics, and other various shows.
In the summer of 2004, V was introduced to a producer by the name of Fusion. They instantly clicked and started working on his debut solo album "Hurricane Season". "The title has nothing to do with the hurricanes in Florida. Every hurricane is unique, powerful, and leaves its mark where it hits. Thats exactly how you can describe every track on my album," explains V.
With singles like "Do it Big" and "Feel Dat", you can rest assure that Hot-V will leave his mark in the industry. He is an A&R dream and it will be interesting to see who he ends up signing with.
