About Me

I am one of the only people in the United States that doesn't like popcorn. It smells like B.O. (next time you have it, you'll see what I'm talking about). It is practically a crime to hate popcorn. I also detest cow's milk and anything that resembles that consistency, such as yogurt or milkshakes.I have the most awesome family in the entire world. I am profoundly in love with my husband of five years. Our daughter is the greatest thing since sliced bread.I would love to own a bakery because I love to bake, although I couldn't do the hours. I am most definitely not a happy person at four in the morning. The only type of book I read for fun is science fiction. No, I don't read "Star Trek". My favorite sci-fi/fantasy author is Robin McKinley. My favorite magazine is National Geographic. Scientific American and Consumer Reports are also winners with me and I hope to someday meet more nerdy girls that like science (biology, microbiology, chemistry) like me. I think I should have gone to school to become a pharmacist just because I like all those little bizarre details and knowing how things work. So where are all the nerdy science girls anyway?

My Interests

Reading, embroidering, playing with my kid, and listening to music. Oh, and watching LOST.

I'd like to meet:

Only incredibly cool ironic people. They must speak fourteen languages, eat only organic food, and wear clothes bought in thrift stores.

Music:

I'm a music ho. I love pretty much all genres of music and I'm always looking to expand my music collection. Some of my favorites include Wilco, Beck, The Rolling Stones, Portishead, Iron & Wine, Barely Legal, The White Stripes, Outkast, Sam Cooke, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, The Shins, Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, and many many more. I'm cursed (blessed?) to have lots of hippie friends and relations so I have to listen to The Grateful Dead MUCH more than I'd prefer.

Movies:

Princess Bride, Hands on a Hard Body, LOTR trilogy, and pretty much all of the Miyazaki films.

Television:

I used to watch only one show religiously-- COPS. However, we never seem to be home on Saturday evenings these days (why am I busier now that I have a family than I did when I was single and childless???) My newest addiction is LOST. I watch The Simpsons and Antiques Roadshow when I remember, which is rarely. I don't have cable and I generally hate TV. All those commercials make me crazy.

Books:

Nerdy stuff like sci/fi and fantasy.

Heroes:

I honestly can't think of any.
