.. MySpace Profile Help! This site is designed to be an informational page on the discipline and art of Usui Shiki Ryoho...nicknamed Reiki. For many this art is still unknown, for others it is respected and practiced, and for some it is extremely controversial and misunderstood. This site invites friends who practice, and those who wish to practice or learn about this profound art of healing with life energy.Although deeply rooted in Buddhist philosophies, this art was introduced to the West as purely a healing art. Thus, Usui Shiki Ryoho means "Usui Style Healing" after the founder of Japanese Reiki, Mikao Usui. However, many Japanese branches are based in the Usui Reiki Ryoho or "Usui Universal Life/Spiritual Energy Healing." While the schools are roughly the same, much emphasis is put on an individual's path to enlightenment in Japan, while many in the West promote enlightenment but not as a necessity to practice it.This has resulted in many branches in both schools and much of what is practiced in Japan is practiced in the West, and vice versa. And due to the simplicity of receiving and healing with Reiki energy, this practice spread rather quickly in the West. Many of these practitioners are very uninformed of just how powerful this art is and think that there isn't much need for practice and development. This is a HUGE misconception in some Western factions. Who is to say that any lineage is better than the other? Traditional, non-traditional-either way the art is spreading and people are being healed.
