About Me

TREW- HAYWOOD PRESENTS: THE LAST CALL EP
Eric Haywood is a native of Atlanta, GA and currently resides in Hampton, VA. His journey into the music industry was a long and arduous one. Since the early age of two years old, music has fascinated him. For fun, Haywood began writing songs at age 8 after receiving a toy guitar for christmas. Since then, his songwriting skills and instrumentation have, of course, increased tremendously. In time, Haywood would begin to experiment with all genres of music. Around age 13, he began playing locally with a punk rock cover band, playing the guitar, the bass guitar, and the drums. He also played guitar in a school jazz band, further broadening his horizons as a musician. It wasnt until age 16 that he would begin to produce hip-hop. It was at age 16 that Haywood began to take his poetry seriously. Soon after, he began to turn his poetry in to rap lyrics. Realizing that he would need production, and not just any production, as a soundbed for his often deep lyrics, he began to dabble in beat-making. As with any beginner, it took Haywood a while to find his niche. But once he found it, there was no turning back. At age 19, Eric Haywood moved to Hampton, VA to attend Hampton University. It was here that he began to meet the members of what would soon become Black Business Entertainment. Friends since freshman year, Haywood, Devin Franklin, his future partner in rhyme, Scott Mejias, and Wes Hartsfield would eventually come together to create the business plan for BBE. The first project on BBE was Black Onwed's, a group consisting of Devin Franklin and Eric Haywood, album entitled Blaxploitation!. It was a shining example of the brilliant work that both members are capable of, and has sold thousands of copies in the state of Virginia. Since then, however, the members of Black Business Entertainment have amicably seperated. With the dissolution of Black Business Entertainment, along with the temporary hiatus of Black Owned, Haywood was back at square one. Deterred but not discouraged, Haywood began shopping beats around the state of Virginia as well as in his homestate of Georgia. But with very few oppurtunities on the horizon, he was forced to find another outlet to display his talents. Through these struggles, Haywood, along with his friends Bryan Lindsay and Wesley Hartsfield, also formerly of Black Business Entertainment, had been wrestling with the idea to form a brand new business venture, this time incorporating film production and editing. Thus, the foundation for 315 Entertainment (named after the birthdate of Haywood and Bryan Lindsay) was born. With his hope restored, Haywood immediately went back into the studio. Taking a cue from producers such as 9th Wonder, Kev Brown, and Dangermouse among others, Haywood decided to release a remix album. Enter the new album, ' Haywood Plays the Hits!- The Remix." An album born out of struggle and necessity, 'Plays the Hits' is a great display of hunger, raw talent, and diversity. The album serves double duty as a great promotional tool for Haywood, and as a warning shot to an industry that has long since slept on his talent. As his time approaches, one by one, eyes will open.FOR INQUIRIES OF ANY NATURE SEND AN EMAIL TO: [email protected]
