Not only does his music emanate a soulful sound, he is a gifted songwriter who expresses his passion for life and love through charming reality-based lyrics and vocal arrangements. Fresh off his cameo acting debut in the hit film Dreamgirls with Jamie Foxx, Beyonce’, Eddie Murphy, and Jennifer Hudson, Chris DeShield also known as 1-800 HIT-KIDD is ready to take the world by storm.Chris DeShield was born in Liberia, West Africa in 1985, during a period where this once leading African nation was experiencing unprecedented turmoil as a result of a civil war. Chris DeShield endured a childhood filled with pain and fear; the passing of his beloved father while he was an impressionable teenager took a toll on him and his family. Through constant struggles, frequent relocating, and separation from his family due to the war, he was able to join his family in the United States in 1997 when he was twelve years old. With a pen, paper, and his voice, Chris found peace and the motivation to dream of not only becoming a noted songwriter and musician, but a stellar entertainer! Today his dreams are becoming a reality.Chris DeShield, ever the entertainer, has shared the same stage with B2K, Snoop Dogg, One Chance, Omarion, Keisha Cole, IMX, Shareefa, and the Disturbing Tha Peace Family, Marques Houston, Avant, MC Lyte, Dru Hill, Jesse Powell and more. Furthermore, he was the winner of the 2006 “Almost Famous Showcase†in Atlanta, GA, an event sponsored by The Alantis Music Conference and Verseus Entertainment Group. Chris DeShield made national news most recently when he performed at the 25th Annual Unifest Festival in Washington, DC, however, the event was interrupted by a unfortunate incident when a woman drove her vehicle into the crowd.
