About Me

Can we make a difference in the world if we talk to each other? Sometimes I think we can. So I teach. And I write. And I try to find out what other people are thinking, dreaming, creating, reading, painting, doing. I'm a professor of sociology with an interest in history, politics, culture, Caribbean studies, and social change. And I'm the mother of a beautiful four-year old who is the most special person I have ever met. I live in Philadelphia, where I was born and raised, and it is a wonderful city with an incredible rainbow of people from all over the world. I have also lived many years in London and Lancaster (UK), New York, Boston, and Ann Arbor, Paris and Kingston, Jamaica where I did PhD research.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet people from all around the world and find out what their views of the past, present and future of our world might be.
