About Me
Born and grown in an inner and windy city in Spain, Diego aka xmariachi grows up finding a good friend in her mother's old German mono 70's cassette player(still working).
At the age of 16 decides to form a band with his best mates. As there were already a guitarist and a singer, Diego decides he will be the drummer (without having actually touched one before). Diego learns fast, and happens to play acceptably in little time, but actually enjoys much more writing the lyrics for the songs and singing the melodies so his cousin, a gifted singer and guitarist, can play them by ear, given Diego's null music theory knowledge.
The band splits up for personal reasons and Diego gives up drumming, also realising that drums were not the instrument for him. Still he doesn't know if there is one, though.
By that time, Diego continues writing songs and singing them to deaf listeners such as his lovely and patient cat, ducks in parks, the walls of his shower or bus drivers. In 2001 he takes up filmmaking with results still to be analysed by psychiatrists, even having a retrospect session of his work on 2004. He still thinks he may do the best movie of all time.
Around 2004 Diego begins to try to make songs with the computer, given that he finds himself too lazy to learn to play guitar or to find somebody to play his songs.
In 2004-2005 there was a creative standby in the life of Diego because he went to Nottingham as an exchange (Erasmus) student and spend most of his time either studying hard or either drinking hard. He found a job in Cambridge to begin in September, so he could spend the summer in Spain partying and drinking yet more.
Since he is in Cambridge, facing a hard life as a 50 hour/week worker, he realises he needs to produce art, either in form of music, drawing, writing, filmmaking, loving, fucking, sleeping. He thinks he is best at the latter.
UPDATE:
It's been a couple of years since I wrote that, and many things have happened... from Cambridge to Barcelona, and then back to Zaragoza... and many experiences during that time.
