"I think you're really on to something here. You really have it all going
on. I love the lyrics. You really put me there. This is what I listen to
music for. You really deserve success with this. I can't wait to hear more
of your music." - spanglemaker from New York
"A universal quality that many people from all over can relate to. It makes
you wanna lift up your hands to the skies." - morris from Texas
"I really think this sounds contrived - it doesn't work for me at all." -

monophobe are a three-piece who met in North Manchester, England, and didn't hate each other... so they formed a band and signed their first record deal off the back of a demo before they'd even played a gig.
The debut album was recorded over a 12-month period, the artwork completed and initial review copies sent out. Mojo magazine said: "Monophobe mix haunting late 60s psychadelic vocals with techno curlicues topped off with Johnny Marr guitar on a startlingly original self-titled outing." Flux magazine added: "Weird, if not quite wonderful."
Then the label ran out of money...
monophobe regrouped and recorded tracks for a new album in their own studio in a flat above their local cafe in Blackley, North Manchester. They sent out copies and were duly offered a record deal with an independent label in Scandinavia. The Manchester Evening News heard a preview and described Monophobe as "Manchester's best kept secret".Then the Scandinavian deal fell apart...
Undeterred by the slings and arrows of outrageous record company politics, monophobe returned to their base in North Manchester at the start of 2005 and began working on fresh material. Inspired by old favourites like The Chameleons, Massive Attack, and The Blue Nile and newer bands like Interpol, British Sea Power etc, Maybe you'll think its wonderful, widescreen, psychadelic pop/rock, or maybe you'll think it's shite. It's all valid... our survey says so!
