About Me

..

I'm a professional artist who does graphic design and illustration for a living, which is cool. Check out the website for some of my work:

I live in the lower east side on the chinatown border with a bunch of europeans (didn't see that coming). What else... I took a trip to Peru, where I got to draw for a bunch of villagers, which was really incredible, on my way to hiking to Machu Pichu.

I'm smiling a bit too wide for it to look like it happens all the time.

Something about the montains makes me at peace. Sun Valley, Idaho.

Isn't this photo nice? Took it behind the scenes of my brothers wedding.

These were taken at a sick party I went to at a 20 million dollar penthouse apartment. There was even a heated roof deck pool (that I was told was used on Sex and the City).

What else could I say to impress you strangers and people I haven't seen since highschool? I know karate.

Or do I..?

My Interests

Reading, writing, art, story telling, hockey, beach, jogging. Finding absurd things to do. Walking.

eh, whatever. I'm here mostly to procrastinate.

Music:

MORRISSEY!

No band matches the Smiths for me. Any band that writes "Girlfriend in a Coma" is amazing. "How Soon is Now" is the all time greatest tune, which I saw live in october. Blew my mind. Saw him three times now, but still no dice on Charming Man, I Know It's Over, and Hand in Glove.

I love early punk. For the most part, the new Pop-punk all sounds alike and has no message. Give me the Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, Ramones, Suixe and the Banshees any day. I really dig chill music two, Morcheeba is ultra smooth. Elvis Costello is a classic. Blur, and all things Damon Alburn is great (gorillaz, mali music).

Pulp's album "Different Class" is my favorite album, but have been less impressed with there following records.

I'm also in love with Nina Persson of the Cardigans. They are the most subtly subversive band, and entirely underrated. And again, I am in love with Nina Persson.

But Ambrosia Parsley of Shivaree is making a claim to the title of "cool music chick who I am in love with but have no shot at." Her music is really awsome. Its got a pacing and style to it that feels 80 years old, but is so tight and moving, with a subversive undertone. Plus, look at her.

The man in black. I liked him before "Walk the Line" came out (movie, obviously, not the hit single from the 50s). But I'm on an especially strong Johnny Cash kick since seeing it. I like a lot of southern stuff, 16 horsepower, Jim White, Old 97s, Johnny Dowd. Some really great stuff from there.
I've been really into Camille lately, french pop artists that made an album almost exclusively as beatbox. Really great. And I've been on a Nina Simone kick lately too. Sinnerman is amazing.

And goddamnit, I love Bon Jovi!

Movies:

An odd mix of art school cool, and action movie sensibilities.

Ghost World is one of my favorite movies ever. In America gets me all emotional. Talk to Her the most powerfully beautiful movie I've ever seen.
Predator is the most kick ass movie of all time.

Followed closely by Conan the Barbarian. Followed closely by the original Terminator. The whole Arnold collection is rocking. Batman Begins is great. Layer Cake was solid. PUNISHER

Dumb and Dumber. Something about Mary. Josie and the Pussycats is the most underated movie ever. Ruthless People is one of the most hilarious movies ever. The Jerk.

Pan's Laberynth was really brilliant.

Crash sucked hard.

Simon Birch makes me get choked up.

Television:

.. I don't really watch much TV any more. When I did, I was big on DuckTales in the day haha, Simpsons, Arrested Developement, BBC shit like Young Ones and Peep Show, Coupling. Boy Meets World DVDs complete me. And the WPIX Movie. Oh, and I borrowed LOST on DVD and its really good.

Books:

.. ELegant Universe, Fabric of the Cosmos, Fortress of Solitude, Kite Runner, Screwtape Letters, Naked Ape (not a porno), Democracy in America, Band of Brothers, Ghost Soldiers, Taste of Honey, Portrait of Dorian Grey, 1984, Brave New World, Pakistan, Book Seller of Kabul, Portriats from Serbia, and so on. I read too much.

Heroes:

ARNOLD! I have what's called a platonic man crush on Arnold Schwarzenegger. A platonic man crush is an entirely non-sexual school girl crush held by one man for another. They symptons are almost identicle. You find yourself smiling when you think of him, you can't help but get excited when he comes up in conversation, and you day dream about meeting him. What would you say? The man is incredible. There is not a single thing he has set out to do that he has not accomplished to the highest possible degree of success. He goes into body building, becomes a six time mr olympia. Legend in the sport. Beyond that, he culturally changed the face of America. He is the reason there are gyms everywhere and regular people weight train. He goes into movies, and defines what an action movie star is. Before he was even in movies he was wealthy taking his prize winnings and buying and selling california real estate. He marries a Kennedy woman. He becomes Governor of the 5th largest economy in the world, and is doing a REMARKABLE job! He wanted a hummvee when they were not civilian cars, he spearheads the movement, and now they are everywhere. "You are telling me I can't have something? Impossible!" He's amazing. -oh yeah, and like my parents or something.
