Originally from the East Coast, Kai Mariama a.k.a Song Bird by some, Kai's smooth vocal style has won her a place in many a music lovers heart. Kai took lessons in classical piano and voice from age 7-21 but began singing reggae and world music in 1994. Kai brings conscious vibes and her lyrical talent is meant to unite people of all races.From 2003-2005 Kai sang lead vocals for the la based roots reggae band "Irie Beats" and during that time recorded a demo with 7 tracks that featured her vocals on 3 tracks. Kai has also played such venues as The Knitting Factory ( Hollywood), Whiskey - GO-GO, Club Echo - Dub club, were she was a featured special guest backed my Mikey Dread's band. Other venues include : The Malibu Inn, The Glass House, El Rey Theater, The Roxy,Zambumba, Coley's Jamacian , Fais Do Do, San Pedro Brewing Company, Riverside Brewing Company, Pharoah's Lost Kingdom Amusement Park, Zen Sushi Bar - Los Angeles, & many more.
