Nick Browne

Nicholas Mark Browne or Nick as my friends know me was born in a rather unfortunate place called Ramsgate which is in Thanet, Kent for all of you who dont know. However many great friends and musicians have arisen from there along with myself. I started my musical life by playing the violin at the age of 7 but when I heard my cousin on the saxophone i ws gone. From the first time I played Mary Had A Little Lamb there has been nothing else. I did however hit a brick wall later in life and considered giving up until I met my new teacher and friend Vaughan Hawthorne-Nelson whos wisdom in the ways of jazz has guided me for the past 3 years to a place where jazz is life and Parker is king. I have dabbled in the realms of Soprano and Tenor but Alto stays number 1 especially after I gleefuly purchased a black Selmer Series II. I played in my school Jazz Band and have been on various tours to Italy and Spain with them. For a short time I formed a band called Save The Otters and I play occasionlly with the cover band Hobo who are great friends of mine. I have recently joined a sax quartet called Rac-A-Sax, playing with three quality musicians. I look to a future of taking jazz further at uni and meeting as many people with the same interests as possible!
