LIL ISSUE

About Me

ISSUE Southern rap artists have always been appreciated for the truth in their lyrics. An introduction if you will, into Southern life, its struggles and pain, its joys and triumphs has always resonated in southern rap music.Artistry as home grown and nurtured as any other, these artists have carved a niche all their own, each different, but delivering the same intensity in their rhymes.LOUISIANA native, Issue is such an artist.Real name Dedrek Brown.Issue gets his name from growning up without his father whom was robbed and murdered when Issue was 10 years old. This phenomenal rapper’s sound is unique, and raw.Issue’s lyrics, full of stories of life, love and honor, are perfectly sprinkled over infectious beats. He wears his life journey on his sleeve, and uses it to paint the pictures that tell the story he conveys to the world. Drawn to the opportunity to overcome struggles with poverty,Issue decided to use hip-hop as a way out. It was not until he joined the Baton Rouge based group known as Yes''I AM Ent., that Issue began to hone his skills as a lyricist. The group performed at various block partys (local) concerts with, at times, more than 12,000 people in attendance. Issue’s stage persona and flow began to take form which created the arena for a chance meeting with one of hip hop hottest labels Def Jam Records president, the late, Shakir Stewart. Impressed with Issue's flow,Shakir began mentoring him while introducing them to industry insiders.Through Shakir's influence and persistence, Issue's record label Blak On Blak Records begin to take notice in Issue's work ethics. He was soon taken back due to fatal death of Shakir Stewart and the disappointment of not signing a record deal. No stranger to adversity,Issue rose from the ashes like that of a phoenix rising. The gritty and raw artist became the number one member of the Blak on Blak Entertainment’s (the South’s hottest independent label) arsenal of artists. Industry insiders are awaiting Issue’s solo release with baited breath as news of his release has created a buzz with the support of the Louisiana underground audience and with radio and club spins in differrent cities. Influenced by artists such as Jay-Z, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G & Lil Wayne, Issue’s lyrics are authentic in style, but reminiscent of greatness in delivery. He pours on his delivery rough and wicked, but smoothes it out for easy ingestion. His lyrical flow changes speed as if he was switching gears for a blazing lyrical ride. Issue has worked with the likes of Bun B,Rick Ross, and Pleasure P of Pretty Ricky. Issue is the whole package, truth, game and lyrics. Issue’s music is like food for the soul, curing all ailments from lack of real music. Unlike many songs that are watered down versions of rap,Issue brings you back to the place where it all began. A message for the masses laced over a hot track sure to make you move. This LOUISIANA rapper is unstoppable, as there is no limit to his success. Issue's music is ready to soothe the itching ear of the most critical rap consumer, are you ready for it?
