I am often amazed at the growth of these two. I remember when they were infants and little Children ( I have posted some "lil-bitty" photos when they were just tikes); I would put them to sleep on my chest at night. Now my son wants to wrestle with me to prove he's stronger than me... And my daughter wants to prove she can cook BETTER THAN DADDY!!!! Go Figure!!!
I just wanted them to know how much I truly appreciate them, love them, AND respect them! I want them to know how very proud I am to be their Father... I am very proud of the spiritual, mental, and physical growth they have made over the past decade or so... My Prince, the consummate gentleman who offers only what he knows; the absolute best to his sister... My Princess, the sweet young lady who always expects the best...
In addition, I wanted to acknowledge the fact that I understand it takes a village to raise a child. To that end, they could not have come this far with such success, without the constant work that their mommy (MY FORMER WIFE) and I put in daily to keep our friendship respectful, peaceful and positive...
Moreover, MY MOTHER is an undying force in my life!!! As well as my children's lives, my former wife's life, and in the lives of those close to us.
I LOVE YOU MOM!!!
You have given me the basic substance of what helps to make me, the man that I am today!!! I remember how tense things were getting when I was budding into manhood, and you were trying soo very hard to hold on for dear life!!! Please know that heartache won’t go un-remembered, as my children begin their journey towards adulthood, treading through their pubescent years...
TRUST when I say... The gentle soul you are, is soooooo engrained within me. It keeps me grounded when things around me seem to be swirling out of control... My children are the better for experiencing my gentle yet firm personality, that you helped shape. You taught me to hold my tongue, and that's a good thing (-: My biological father's temper may have helped cost him his life, and I never lose thought of that...
MY BROTHER... Thank you for loving my children as much as I do... I watch when you play with them, and interact with them. It's a wonderful sight to see!!! The man whose diapers I once changed, is such an important part of their lives... The way you and the children tease one another is hilarious... The amount of love you express to them is very important to both me, and to them... Just do me a simple favor: Stop popping all those wheelies on your motorcycle in front of them, hee hee hee hee...
MY STEP FATHER... While you may not have been the father figure my brother and I wanted as children... Know this: You have taught me how to LOVE A WOMAN!!! There is no doubt in my mind that you truly love my mother! Watching you love her has been an experience that I have come to appreciate!!! You never came home, nor do you now come home, and beat your chest to proclaim the Man Of The House is home. The way you carry yourself is evident enuff! You taught me how to be patient, loving, soft spoken, and gentle... All the while, being the STRONG Man that God intended for us to be. Please know that the example you live, by loving my mother the way you do, translates into me teaching my children the value and importance of a man loving his family NO MATTER WHAT! It gives my little girl an example of what to expect, and my son an example of how to be...
To all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and friends... To the FRIENDS who CHOOSE to LOVE me just because they do, with no thought about what’s in it for them. . . . We’re STUCK with our FAMILY. . . We CHOOSE our FRIENDS. . . I thank all you from the very bottom of my heart. We know there are simply WAY TOO MANY to name here. Just know I love each and every one of you!
Last but not least... MY BIOLOGICAL FATHER, who was killed when I was about 7 1/2 years old... I want to acknowledge that I have very fond memories of him. Some fun laughs, like when he put too much air in my bicycle tire and it popped (he laughed, I didn't)... Days riding with him while he was working (I wasn’t supposed too)... Many memories that are tucked away in my heart, never to be forsaken, forgotten, ignored, or lost... Rather to be honored forever... An example? I remember him talking to his friend Donald when I was about 5 or 6 years old. Donald was telling him that a particular woman was not attractive (he wasn’t so nice about it, as he said she was "ugly"). My father raised his voice and said the young lady had a great personality and that's all that mattered. He then turned to me, and explained that looks weren't everything. Dad... I have never forgotten that moment... Among **MANY** other things I learned from you... That night stays with me, and plays in my mind daily! To love people based on what's on the inside, more than what appears to be beautiful on the outside... You know? I learned there are a lot of people like your friend Donald in the world... I have ignored them just like you did. I trust my children will follow suite. Honestly? There are days I wish you had made it past your 26th Birthday!!! It's hard to realize that I have lived as many years past your last living birthday, as my daughter is old (I'm 42, he died @ 26, my daughter is 16) (-:
In conclusion, God has kept me... And I thank him or that! His Word has shown me how to live as a victor in life! The Ministries of Fred Price, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Norvel Hayes, Jerry Sevelle, Billy Ingram, Beverly Crawford, Frank Stewart, and Gary Ziegler (among others) helped to shape a very young child (from the tender age of 12) into a True Man Of God! Many other ministries helped keep the Man you read about grounded in the Word, and to all of the ministries I will be forever grateful...
Without his Word, and the different Ministries that have taught me how to live, where would I truly be??? I don’t even want to think about it...
The Birth, Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus leaves me Extremely thankful for his undying love for us!!!!! While I am NOT perfect... I love and thank Jesus for his sacrifice. My family and friends are better for his love and sacrifice for us! THANK YOU! ! ! ! !
