Damola got into Hip hop in the late 80..s. He started out getting involved with break dancing, and then later graffiti, but all the time he maintained a great appreciation for the MC. As the years passed, he began to evolve as a b-boy. He would Freestyle with his friends every day, dancing and rhyming. It went on till about the mid 90..s when he gave up dancing but, continued to rhyme with no aspirations to hit the studio. In the late 90..s Damola moved to University in Lesotho and hooked up with a fellow student. They recorded over instrumentals from a sampler. They would play the disc; plug in the mic and record on a cassette tape, restricted by 1 take. They developed a fan base on campus, and continued to record on Wu, atcq and other underground instrumentals. In 2002 he moved to Pretoria to complete his studies. He attended a couple of the Hip Hop gigs and decided it was an environment he could thrive in and begun to write rhymes. In 2003 he hooked up with a Pretoria based group called ..Urban Militia... In 2004 the group hooked up with Pretoria based producer Nyambz and recorded a track called ..Captain Jack... It was their fist track to get commercial air play, and they proceeded to record an album. At around the same time, Damola recorded his first solo track called ..Expose.. produced by Nyambz. It ended up on the Fro-Pick records compilation ..PTA Unlimited... This achievement boosted his confidence and he approached Nyambz to produce an LP.By the end of 2005 they had recorded a lot of material, and in the process he worked with several local MC..s and producers. In 2006 he gave some of his material to Dj Kenzhero to mix, which gave birth to the ..Break even.. mix tape. Some of the features on the tape include ..Midas touch.. from Loose Cannon, ..Blak Lez.. from Pressure Point, ..Rebel Nation.. , ..Sam Simose.., ..Mello.., ..Moo.. and many more. There is enough material for and album or two. In due time there should be a Damola cd available to you. With that said....
