Music:
I'm all over the place with music, though I have to admit, tentatively but proudly, that I'm a fan of musical theater. But I have classical training in piano and love classical repertoire, and also like pop, jazz, rock, etc. You won't find me dealing much in metal, grunge, or country, but really - can't we all just get along?
Movies:
Favorites include: Lawrence of Arabia, The Philadelphia Story, The Manchurian Candidate, The Godfather, Broadcast News, Brief Encounter, Rear Window, All About Eve, Singin' in the Rain, The Silence of the Lambs. Guilty pleasures include: The Wiz, Showgirls, From Justin to Kelly, and Crossroads.
Television:
All-time favorites: SOAP, Sports Night, Sex and the City (apparently, I'm a big fan of the letter "S"), and Frasier. Current favorites include Alias, Veronica Mars, Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Desperate Housewives (though what is happening this season?). The two TV characters with whom I identify most closely are Miranda Hobbes and Niles Crane.
Books:
The Wind in the Willows, Robertson Davies' Deptford Trilogy, Les Miserables, Harry Potter, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Brideshead Revisited, The Bonfire of the Vanities, William Goldman, P.G. Wodehouse, Charles Dickens, E. M. Forster, and the L. Frank Baum Oz books.
Heroes:
Wow - I've never really thought about this before. These are the people - living or dead - I'd love to meet, have dinner with, just because they'd fascinate me: Katharine Hepburn, David Lean, Bill Clinton, Peter O'Toole, Maggie Smith, Harry Truman, Aaron Burr, and T. E. Lawrence.
