Fake Your Death (2003-2007)

R.I.P. (2003-2007)

About Me

Don't know where this came from...About 5 years and an equal amount (or more) of lineup changes later, FYD is deciding to call it quits. It's been a long good run, we set out to do a lot of things and actually pulled through, including a tour, releasing a full length album on a label and playing with some of our favorite bands. However, our time has come to move on which was the entire essence of the band, in the first place.
Some of the most memorable times of my life came from this band that I will never forget, like the first Rawest Venue which was overall a surreal experience to an acoustic set outside a shutdown show, to touring with Cary Goldberg the stand-up comic, to playing basements where I recognize every face in the crowd singing louder than I am. This band has been an outlet for us to meet and network with people/bands who we'd otherwise not even know existed.
So why are we breaking up? Well, as you probably know, it has been close to impossible for FYD to keep a solid lineup and we recently lost some key members. We decided that rather than, 'flossing a dead horse' it would be best to end the 'FYD' chapter in all our lives. We've accomplished all that we feel we could and wanted to and it's time to see what else we are capable of outside of FYD.
There is some good news that comes with this as well. There is a new project in the works with members of FYD. We are still going to be active and have been active in writing songs for a full length album. The result has been some of the most energetic, powerful and honest songs we've ever written in any project any of us has ever done. It's not FYD, but it is something we're all proud to be releasing and anticipating playing live in the very near future. Keep checking back for updates on that. If you want to check that out head on over to www.myspace.com/captivesofnj
We couldn't do any of this with out the help of the people who support us and the ones close to us, so our most sincere thanks goes out to anyone who's been there through any of it. Especially those who came and left the band at one point or another: Brian Plunkett (you're seriously the most down to earth person I know, not to mention one of the best and most innovative guitar players I've ever played with. You are a key contributor to what is the 'FYD' sound.) ,Mike Keys (MYRTLE BEACH OR BUST! You have best ear around and it was always fun to rock out with you.), Jamie Frost (Remember mass producing our first demo any free period we had in High School at the High Tech Lab? Great Guy''not going to go'!) ,Matt Whritenour (You saved us when we really needed someone to fill the bass slot and giving us your input to make the songs that much better. We would have never achieved that full length if it wasn't for you),Tyler Casket (You had a short run with us but VA Beach was a fucking blast),Tim Alonso (You played probably one of the most memorable FYD shows with us at Camp Ocawasin on bass, then you went to the Marines and shortly came back hah Good times anyway),Eric Stroud (I know we were a bit young and you may not have understood what we were trying to do, but you added an element to our sound that set us at another level and you taught us a lot about what is 'musical' and what's not. I'll never forget you showing up to camp Jefferson in full camo and a gas mask.) and Dan Herdman (White Castle Crave Case Tail Gate Party @ The Iron Maiden show. I'll never forget when we took photos of all of us jumping and your shot was you on the ground in pain. Hah). Hell, I'm gonna even go as far back as Alanna D (This band would have never existed if it wasn't for you and Lab Band where we mutually played upright bass. We'd always play punk rock songs rather than the music that we were supposed to and couldn't even read. hah) , and Chris Van Ness (Again, this band would have never existed if it wasn't for you either. One of the most memorable shows with you was Mt. Arlington Elks back when we played songs such as 'Sax W/ Mike'.) A special thanks also goes out to Mike "The Hammer" Redblade for putting out our full length and working with us through some big decisions. Also, JJ, you sacrificed your pick up truck for us, that's more than any band can ask for hah. Thanks dude. Finally, we'd like to thank anyone who took the time to read all this or care about what we had to say for the past 5 years.
