Troubled Souls was formed in 1989 as a thrash/death metal band by Craig(guitar/vocals) and Clint(drums/vocals). The first few years were spent going through various lineup changes, but always coming back to the two of us only, and slowly writing original songs. Sometime in 1992 we changed the name to T.F.S. and starting playing our fastest and most improvised grindcore insanity.
Our first true official release was the 74 song "The Polish Twist" tape in late 1992. We had previously released a demo tape to college radio stations and zines called "Troubled Souls Hasn't Heard Of You Either" sometime in the early 90's but it was never sold. It was followed by the very rushed recordings of two different lineups that became the limited run of a 60 song tape "Vaginal Penetration" in April 1993. This was sold and given to a few zines for review with no cover!!!! We buried it and in May 1993 recorded and later released the 50 song "Fuck Face!!!" tape in early 1994. A 7" came out on a ripoff label that should be forgotten about. We had burnt ourselves out on the spastic improv porno/grind and returned to our early roots of thrash/death metal and once again starting writing all new material. In March of 1994 we recorded the "Unanswered" rehearsal tape but soon after split up before finishing the recording.
We reunited in the summer of 1997 for a live show and quickly disappeared again until late 1999/early 2000 when we reunited for four jam sessions to write some new songs and record them along with some old ones for a demo CD that was never released.
In 2002 a CD re-issue of "The Polish Twist" was released(with bonus live tracks from 1999) with more to possibly come. 2000-2006 found us working in a variety of other bands but we are currently reunited and focused on writing the old school metal music we started w/ before all that improv grind shit we are mostly known for.
