About Me

Its warming up here in West Virginia. As far as a bio is concerned: I hail originally from Queens, New York since 4/20/75 and lived there for 16 years, had little money growing up and did what we had to be done to survive in the big apple, life was rough, but made the best things and eventually moved out of the concrete jungle. Next place of residence was Smyrna Delaware, a nice change of pace and a good place to spend some time and meet some lifelong friends LMB^2. Schooled at the University of Delaware and then moved to West Virginia for the love of mountains, fresh air, and music, and wild women. In 1997, began playing guitar in a band called Laughing Gym, named after a Japenese Mushroom, which after induced caused hours of nonstop laughing and caused the eater to end up living in a smurf house. In 1998 the band Steel Pterodactyl needed a guitar player, rocked out with them for about a year; favorite venue playing with Steel was called "The Stoned Monkey" in Huntington, West Virginia, which had a colorful painted mural of a huge monkey holding ten foot water bong. In 1999, got together with some rainbow folk from Floyd Virginia and we formed a band called Foundation Stone. While in Foundation Stone, we had the pleasure of doing some gigs with some famous Rastafarian musicians including the legendary Burning Spear, The Wailers, and The Meditations to name a few. In 2000 we recorded the albulm "On the Updraft" and toured some more in on the East Coast. In the summer of 2001, we met Jamaican Rasta Guitar player/Singer Songwriter Shayar and drummer Ras Keith Brown who is currently touring with Corey Harris, they joined Foundation Stone for a spell and put some real Jamaican Rasta Reggae flavor into the mix. Speaking of mixes, In 2002, I played guitar and sang with another group called Vern's Pot O' Chili, and then in 2005, decided to leave VPOC and go back to school. In an effort to stay musically creative, in 2006, recorded a 14 track record called "Healing Vibrations", a combination of original roots blues music and some orginal reggae tunes, 10% of the proceeds were donated to the Childrens home society of West Virginia. These days, been playing music locally, and caring for my son Zion. On the musical plate are some dates to play some shows this spring at some local music venues including the Fort Savannah and the Sweet Shoppe, shows will feature a live version of Pink Floyd's dark side of the moon reggae style. Been giving weekly guitar lessons to a 13 yr old named Matt who is turning into a real shred master. Recently Ive Produced and recorded several band demo cd's including one for "Vern's Pot O' Chili", "Greenhouse Effect", and White Rock which recorded a collection of old time acoustic bluegrass tunes. Ok, thats enough bio for now, big up, dont smoke meth it will eat your soul, stay irie, download music for free, share in the grove, keep it real, come out to my live shows. peace -Russ
