Biography:
2009 so far has seen James perform at events across Asia, taking in cities such as Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hanoi Vietnam plus regular trips back to Europe and the UK for events such as the massive Mini United Festival 50th Anniversary & Design Week Awards. 2008 saw James help launch many brand new nightclubs and bars in countries such as Dubai & Egypt, offering his expertise and performances to many luxury 5 Star hotel chains such as the Savoy, Hilton, Taj, Crown Plaza, Intercontinental, Rotana & Madinat Burj Dubai. With his 15 years of experience, James is just at home performing chill-out and various world music fusions to a sophisticated and intimate audience as he is the latest house and electro to a large nightclub crowd.
With recent global event and tour brands such as Vodafone, Emirates Airlines, BMW, Mini, Chivas Regal, Moet, Bacardi, Marlboro, L&M & Castle, the Bubblefunk DJ agency’s founder James has also performed in Africa, Australia, Russia, India, Thailand, Spain, Portugal & Ibiza in recent years. His many London appearances have included The End, Mass, Fabric, The Arches, The Premises and Babushkas, performing alongside Rob Da Bank, Coldcut, Stereo MCs, David Holmes, Andy Weatherall, Meat Katie, Mix Master Morris, Howie B, Jon Pleased & FC Kahuna and many other well known acts.
Entertaining audiences from exclusive villa parties, weddings and corporate events in London and Ibiza through to guest DJing to crowds of over 7000 people in such far flung places as Siberia in Russia, James is also currently concentrating his efforts on numerous new music productions. He has already clocked up numerous releases on ComeTogetherRecords in the UK. His last EP produced alongside Koru, had a great reaction from clubs such as Bora Bora, Space & Amnesia in Ibiza and was featured on BBC Radio One's DJ Pete Tong's website recently as being "deep, tribal and very sexy, a great dance track with a conscience!"
Currently on the roster of 6 International DJ agencies, the UK's Sparkle DJ Agency says about DJ James Bubblefunk: "His mixes are rarely very far away from the office CD deck and we can honestly say that his trademark harmonious and spiritual sound does it for us every time – “Think DJ Sasha meets Eric Prydz meets Deep Dish and you get the picture!"
With 15 years experience performing on the London circuit, James has now become an established and versatile entertainer on the international circuit. His performances gather the people's spirits toward a positive source to create a hypnotic and harmonious mix that will have people not just jumping up and down with their hands in the air, but leaving them bursting with emotion.
A self taught DJ from childhood, James secretly listened to DJs such as John Peel and stations such as Atlantic 252 and the then pirate dance music radio station Kiss 100 late into the school nights, even building a giant antennae in the loft to pick up far away signals. As he progressed through his pre-teens he wrecked his parents’ record players and tape decks eagerly producing hip hop and techno mixes for his friends. The age of 16 and Art College couldn't come too soon enough for James, when every weekend was to be spent at the infamous Bowgie Club among others in Cornwall where The Aphex Twin, Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton were then young residents.
From chasing the endless raves in the South West of England in the early nineties, dance music finally brought James to London, to start many productive years on the club and bar circuit. Today, now producing his own unique tracks and traveling progressively worldwide, James launched his very own Akashic Records in 2008, with numerous brand new productions set for release in 2009.
