Skully Mack was born in Sanantonio, Tx as the third
of four sons in an Air Force family. His experiences with music began early
as a child while living on the island of Okinawa, Japan where he began playing
the piano at home to pass time. After picking up the Bass Guitar during High
School, it became evident that Skully was making waves on the local scene.
Realizing that the road to the top did'nt run through Texas at the time, Skully
began invisioning the move to Hollywood. After sneaking in to every major
concert and backstage event that Sanantonio had to offer, Skully had met enough
R&B headliners to garner a small bit of attention once he arrived in Losangeles.
Soon after settling in to the fast pace of city life Skully began meeting other musicians
in an attempt to establish a network of support for his music ideas.
If asked, Skully will probably tell you that his most notable and beneficial meeting
of the time was with the artist formerly known as Prince, whom he had met previously in Texas. This set in motion a chain
of events that lead to introductions to Eddie Murphy, Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam
& Terry Lewis, Eddie Vanhalen, Paula Abdul, and Maurice White.
Over the course of 20 plus years as a Hollywood industry insider Skully Mack
has managed to take part in some of the most famous and infamous moments in LA
Rap music history. With ear smashing Bass grooves and high power lead guitar
riffmania, Skully Mack along with master Losangeles disc wizard DBG
(Da Bad Guy), set out to perfect a style of beat production that is now known
to be the sound of the West Coast (no samples). With DBG at the helm of his
newly created production company EFC, Skully Mack began lacing the tracks
of then rap newcomer Deadly Threat. This chance meeting became a small part of
the huge beginning of what is now the legendary LA ZU.
Since Skully Mack's early association with Deadly Threat he has had the pleasure
of meeting and or working with an endless list of Rap heavyweights such as, DJ Pooh,
Ice Cube, Kam, Tupac, Lisa(Left Eye) Lopez, Kurupt, Roger, and most notably
Skully Mack is down with Tha LA ZU. After the death of Superstar Rapper
Tupac, and an uncertain future in LA's Rap community, Skully Mack left
Hollywood on a 10 year hiatas that would place him in almost every major city in the U.S. ,Toronto and, Montreal Canada as well as Mexico.
It is now 2007 and we are proud to announce that Skully Mack has returned to Hollywood
in rare form, and is presently recording songs for the upcoming album release of his new group VanessBand, producing up and coming signed artists and, creating music for Movies and Television. You can see Skully Mack perform at select locations in and around Hollywood..IN MY OWN WORDS.I lost my MOM to cancer in 2005. She was everything to me and, taught me all about life and, music as a child. She lived her life for me and, my brothers and, stood by my Father through thick and, thin for 51 years and; I "SHINE" because of her.
I would like to thank all of my family and, friends who stood by me while I've dealt with such a huge blow to my world, most of all to my children who I could not have survived without!
