I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I have been living in San Diego for about eight years now. I'm not from around here, I'm an east coaster and a bit of a Brit, just a little bit. I LOVE the weather, the beach and the palm trees! This is where I met my husband, my dear friends, my three "children" and my many life callings.I think that people who know the difference, and can use it correctly, between good and well, I and me, who and whom, accept and except, too, to and two, they're, their and there are just too freakin' hot! Also, proper comma use and placement is super-hot! My dream is to have a cat rescue center up in Victoria, B.C. Really, I'd love to have them all over the world, but I have to do this one goal at a time. My time as a vet tech taught me so much about how to care for all animals, but I was raised with felines, and they are where my heart is. (Besides, I'm horribly allergic to dogs, made for a nice work experience!) I also want to have a little hobby farm and a super weird, eco-friendly, built by my hubby and me, crazy house. I'm talking super kooky weird, like, stop traffic weird. The rescue center will be on the property, maybe we can use cat poo as a composting material, yeah, thought about it, no. Maybe just to fertilize the grass...Mainly I hope to reconnect with some old friends. Drop me a line, yo! My Interests

Art, craft making, animal welfare, kitties, food, travel (though lately I've been land-locked!) national security ( the real kind, not the Bushie kind), human rights (all humans), universal healthcare, our corporate overlords, traveling, my honey, my "kids", performing, all-around being silly, and my family! I like to put my children in battle on kittenwars.com. I'm still working on the perfect Dirty Martini recipe. I love history, the study of various religions and schools of thought.I am very political, but I'll try to stay light and airy here. At least until after the wedding!

I'd like to meet:

My old SDSU,B-CC, Kennedy, Our Saviors and any other school I may have gone to along the way classmates! I've lived in so many places, and I changed schools so often throughout my life that I've lost contact with more people than I can count!I'd love to get in contact with old friends and school mates. We've all moved around so much!

Music:

The Pogues, Kevin Michael (so far, unless he he signs with McDonaalds) Bruce Robison, Kelly Willis, Clint Black, and early Garth Brooks (the pre-Walmart days). Big Band music is so much fun. The Bob Morrison Band will be played at our wedding, where I sang a Gershwin tune. Journey (Don't stop believin! I dream of singing this at a karaoke bar), U2 (we saw them open here in SD, it was orgasmic). I loved Aaliyah. And of course, we gots to keep it real, yo! The local So Cal music scene: My favorite band is "Vegitation" filled with some of my favorite people in the world! (See you guys at the wedding!), Son Volt, Earlimart, Sophie B. Hawkins, (she rocked my world at her last show, i even got to sing with her! I offered to vaccinate her pets for free, but they were up to date, tee hee. Then she gave me a CD to send to my girl, April, in Iraq.) This is what I do while I wait for my hair to dry...

Movies:

ZOMBIE MOVIES!!! Aliens, The Undead, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, (George Romero is awesome, these movies are great political commnetaries). Horror and Sci-Fi are my main stays, followed by a good political movie or documentary. Viva James Cameron and Michael Moore! But there is one girlie movie I love...

Television:

Always Sunny in Philadeldhia, Homicide: Life on the Street, (anything out of Baltimore has got to be good!), Big Love, Farscape, Family Guy, Angel and Buffy (that's my girl!). Star Trek is the shiz-nit, yo! Only the original and Next Generation, though. (If you agree with me, you MUST go to the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas, it was like going to freakin' Valhalla for me! I actually wept!)I love British television. I spent my formative years in England, and have the dirty, dry sense of humor rarely found in American television. I love political stuff, Boondocks, Robot Chicken, Moral Orel, The Daily Show, Chapelle Show. But most of all Real Time with my main man, Bill Maher. My current friends know what I'm talking 'bout! Dear lord, I watch too much television!

Books:

Wicked, Fast Food Nation, Reefer Madness, Angels and Demons (way better than the DaVinci Code), The Relic, Freakonomics (you gotta read it!), Animals in Translation and anything scary, though I don't know what is scarier than Fast Food Nation! I just read "On Bullshit", by Harry Frankfurt, and I'm starting "The Elegant Universe". I can't stand to read anymore damn bridal magazines! I needs me my science readings! Time to renew my Scientific American subscription. Hmm, Scientific American, is that an ethnicity? I like to read what I can from both sides of the aisle. It's good to know what the bad guys are worshipping, thinking isn't a factor.

Heroes:

Hands down, my Mom. Anyone who can survive my adolescence is not only heroic, but a saint! I was a good kid, we just had so much going on. Moving around, catholic school, divorce, her cancer, my illness, her Dad's death, my Dad's absence, losing Katie. We're bonded from this life to the next.

Thin the Herd, AKA San Diego is Burning

The smell permeates the air. We've had to keep the windows closed since yesterday. I would compare the smell to a new oven when it is first used, or when the furnace is lit up after a long time off. I...

Puppy Love a.k.a. Microchip your pets!!!

There are bad days and then there are the days so bad, so utterly horrible, so magnanimously awful that all you want to do is tell everyone to go jump in the San Diego Bay, (believe me, that would be ...

San Francisco, Here I Come!!!

I hate to admit it, but in my seven years of living in California I have never been to the great city by the bay. I've only been to LA a few times, and no where else in our great state. I was born up ...
