About Me

This sums up the Tune Inn pretty well:"Most of the hardcore and punk shows at the Tune Inn were completely chaotic. The brawls that broke out inside that club (and up and down Center Street for that matter) were sometimes equivalent to urban riots. I had not seen anything quite like that before in my life. At some shows, the stage was packed with so many audience members that it became virtually impossible to actually see the performing musicians. The stage diving and pile ons were out of control! During those shows, many lead vocalists were constantly obscured by sweaty and aggressive hardcore kids and punks all jumping towards the microphone at once to scream the lyrics to their favorite songs. The breakdown of the barrier between the bands and the audience was a major part of the Tune Inn’s charm. You really felt like you were part of the show instead of a spectator. All of this chaos was welcomed by the Tune Inn patrons. It became an escape from the trials and tribulations of everyday life. One could go to a Tune Inn matinee or hardcore fest and release all of their anger and frustration. Everyone could leave everything on that dance floor just like the bands left everything on that stage. The Tune Inn was not as well known as some of the other clubs that came before it like CBGB’s or The Anthrax but it served as a second home and a haven for many people. Without the Tune Inn, I would’ve missed out greatly. I would not have been exposed to all of the great underground bands that played there over the years. I would also not have met most if not all of my current friends if Fernando Pinto’s club never existed. I loved every minute spent there. The Connecticut music scene suffered a huge loss when Fernando Pinto closed the doors of the Tune Inn for good. The club was never replaced. There will never be a music venue in New Haven quite like the Tune Inn. It is still missed..."~Damon Lucibello~I hate to do this, but I'm going to have to approve comments for now, so I stop getting spam. I'll still approve stuff for bands or artists that are promoting their shows.
