About Me

Hey! I'm Alex, a musician/historian from Portsmouth (lucky me.)
My dayjob is Music Administrator at the University of Portsmouth, a wonderful job which suits me down to the ground. It's great to work in a music related environment and I get to wear suits and be a grown up, helping the music dept. run smoothly. No shelf stacking for me!!!!!!! I'm also the conductor of the University of Portsmouth Wind Band.
I have a wonderful army boyfriend called Ed, (Meeeeeeeeeeeeep!) who lives in Windsor/Leicestershire (in other words far away!) We've been together since April 05 and I can't honestly remember a time that I've been happier. He's everything I could have asked for in a partner and a whole lot more. I am a hell of a lucky girl for the man I love so so much to love me back.
I also have a loving if annoying family, who however much they get on my nerves, I love unconditionally, and some wonderful friends who put up with me with remarkable patience and humour.
I can't stand things with more than 4 legs, flu, dirty old perverts. Ignorance, i just can't stand it. Spiders, why do they need so many sodding legs? sweetcorn, yuk! Incompetence as i don't suffer fools gladly. Alto clef which was invented by a psycho, evidently. Star Trek, do I need to explain? Peas are pointless spheres of pure hatred and baked beans are the same as peas, only less spherical. Films that involve people getting eaten by animals/dinosaurs/aliens. I'm a pussy, I can't even watch jurassic park! Chavs!!!!! As if I need to explain further.... stupid people in supermarkets, you know the ones, they walk really slowly and park their trolleys right in the middle of crowded ailses, only to disappear for 10 minutes. The London Underground. So stressful. It could well be the seventh circle of Hell that Dante was on about. Also full of impatient rude people with no consideration
but I adore:war films despite being a total pansy, I seem to be able to stomach watching people get blown to pieces. Baci and ferrero roche the perfect chocolates, along with malteasers!!!!! mmmmmmmm Reel Big Fish, Clarinets (I'm biased,) dancing, vodka mudshakes bottles of joy! Going to the pub as you've got to be sociable! Going to band. I'm a band geek, sue me! Cows. moo :-) xxx Film Scores. I love a good soundtrack. Pink straws, singing, shiny things. Trips to Windsor/Knossington to see Ed. The happiest times I can think of. NCIS, lie ins, The Lark Ascending. Penguins, Lucozade, twiglets and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Special shout out to anyone I haven't seen in a while, I miss you all. Especially the South Downs lot, the Action Stations Crew and the extras!Wugz

My Interests

I'm pretty geeky really, which I love because it takes me further and further from the hordes of girls who can have a 3 hour conversation about nail extensions.

I am a complete history buff, any period really, and am a wealth of useless information.
I'm first and foremost a musician. I play clarinet, alto sax, soprano sax, piano, and sing. I also play the pipeorgan on alternate Sundays at a beautiful medieval church in a tiny picturesque village in West Sussex. Gigging is my main passion and so far I've performed for most of the Royal family, gigs around Europe including Germany (for a massive festival, our main parade was watched by 1.5million people, and was televised throughout Germany), Malta, France, Belgium, and Finland.

A lot of my musical time at the moment is with HMS Nelson Royal Naval Volunteer Band. We do everything that the Marines band are too lazy/busy to do, and we march as well as concert performances. We were the Best Overall Band in the Navy 2005!

I love to read and my library is constantly growing, I am addicted to buying DVDs, and I love to travel. My last trip was a family trip to Florida last year where we went on numerous rollercoasters and got chased by a hurricane, then up to Georgia to meet my Stateside family, who completely rock!Get Your Own! | View Slideshow

I'd like to meet:

In person?John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Newton-Howard, Howard Shore and Harry Gregon-Williams, they write the most amazing movie music and I'd love to know the process and their inspirations.

Dan Snow - the military historian, not only could I stare at him for hours but I'd love to talk to him about military history and come away from it feeling a bit more intelligent!

Tyra Banks, the supermodel. Not a lot of us Brits get to see ANTM or her talk show unless we have cable, but I've watched every episode of ANTM and can't get enough of it. And hers is the only talkshow I'll watch, she's amazing. And fierce! :-)

Prince Harry - he's just so cool.

Rufus Sewell- the man is a walking God

Johnny Depp, he's the best actor alive. He can play anything.

Tom Holt as I adore his books.

Dita Von Teese. I'm straight but I would.

The Boosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And on myspazz, anyone really!
