About Me

I grew up in the bay area and my first instrument was ukulele. I quickly decided guitar was a little cooler, so I switched to that and my obsession with the instrument began around age 9. A year later I picked up the saxophone and played that just as much as guitar up until late high school. I regretfully don't even own a sax today. In high school I played in a a bunch of bands. The two biggest ones were Rug, a unique sort-of organic techno band that (oddly) featured two current members of the Dance Hall Crashers, and Flexx, a musical theatre/glam/fusion band that could never have survived past high school. I started college at New England Conservatory in Boston but quickly switched to UCLA. At UCLA, I formed the band Pseudopod with my old Flexx drummer friend Tim McGregor. We toured the country and eventually signed a record deal with Interscope. All Pseudopod info can be found here: www.pseudopod.net. Around the same time, I formed an instrumental band called Dogfysh with Tim and two other amazing studio/touring musicians, Ethan Phillips, and Zac Rae. We are still together, and play very infrequently around California. Our CD is available at www.cdbaby.com/dogfysh. Over the years I've toured and and/or recorded with a few other major label artists, most notably Marc Broussard, Hoobastank, Ari Hest, and Radford. I play fairly regularly with an amazing ten-piece soul/funk band called The Greasy Beats, info about that band can be found here: www.greasybeats.com. We recorded our first CD in 2006, it is available at: www.cdbaby.com/greasybeats. For two years I was musical director/guitarist for Jem. She is a singer/songwriter from Wales who had a platinum debut album on RCA records. We toured the U.S., Canada, Europe and Japan and appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen Degeneres and Conan O'Brian shows. All info about her can be found here: www.jem-music.netUPDATE, 2009: I figured i should update this every few years:) For the past few years I have been living in San Francisco, though still go to Los Angeles often. I recently toured as lead guitarist for the legendary LA funk band, The Breakestra (Ubiquity Records). I toured and recorded with a great indie pop band called Minipop (Takeroot Records), continue to work with a great LA-based band called The Estate. I still play occasionally with The Greasy Beats. Lately I have been playing a lot with The Park, the Bay's most in-demand rhythm section, backing up mostly hip-hop and soul artists. I have also done a lot of free-lance work, recording and touring with classic artists like Petula Clark, Darondo, Connie Francis, Lorna Luft, and Melba Moore, as well as new artists like Nino Moschella (Ubiquity Records), The Jazz Mafia, Righteous Movement, Bri Anne Michelle and Rachel Lauren.
