Band Members:Darius Kohanim is 1/3 of the group Absence of Essence(AOE), and has been heavily involved with music for the last 15 years. Starting as a drummer for many different experimental rock bands of all types in Atlanta, made his musical tastes constantly expand over the years. Eventually he got bored with traditional music and playing in bands, and got into electronic music. Starting as a DJ with a residency at club Illusions for 2 years in Atlanta, really helped him dive deeper into a unique style of house and eventually diving into production shortly after. Also doing production collaborations with local producer Habersham, the groups AOE/Absence of Essence, and Panopticon, has made music production become the main focus.The more recent release of- Absence of Essence and Habersham The Forever Ep, has been a solid release on Lobotomy and very unique. Also "Methodical Funk," became a big release with a Pig&Dan remix, on the label Lobotomy in '08, and continues spreading into the sets of many top dj's and producers worldwide. The release of Komadose and Reminisce EP's on Hunya Munya, have a mix of recent tracks and some tracks from many years ago. Both EP's touch down in many genres. The style of production is always changing and evolving, spreading out to many genres. Although lately, with the group AOE, the focus has been more on the techno and tech house vibe. His main goal in production, is to look at music from a different angle on each track. Darius is in music for breaking down the genre walls, and just being able to make music that spreads around to all types of music listeners, from all parts of the globe.
