I mostly read black authors only cause they are usually more appealing to me. I was stuck on Walter Mosley and Terry McMillan and Eric Jerome Dickey for a long time. I also like Omar Tyree Delors Phillips and although he is not a Black writer my all time favorite author from childhood to now is Roald Dahl (author of my favorites Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. Some of my other favorites are: The Color Purple, The Bluest Eye, Fly Girl and NIGHT (by a Jewish author named Elie Wiesel). I am also very big on poetry and grew up on Lanston Huges, Maya Angelo and Shakespear.
