About Me

Tavis has blossomed into a powerful voice in the current acoustic singer/songwriter music scene, with his distinct voice and brilliant songwriting. He draws frequent comparisons to the likes of Paul Simon, Ben Harper and Nick Drake, and has a commanding stage presence that makes every performance a uniquely memorable experience. He writes and sings from his soul, and how powerfully soulful his voice is! Creating music that is melodic and emotional, introspective and intelligent, with lyrics full of powerful metaphors and poignant messages, unlike anything heard since Dylan and Seeger began putting pen to paper years ago is his forte, and the best is yet to come.
He picked up the guitar at the advanced age of 20 years old while enrolled at the United States Naval Academy. Within a few months he had mastered the basic chords and was already writing his own lyrics and compositions, taking poems written during boring engineering lectures and putting his own unique style of finger-picking guitar riffs to them. His music filled the stark halls of the military college, and friends would flock to his room to hear new additions every week.
Now, ten years later, after thousands of demo CD’s handed out for free all over the place, he is releasing the first professionally recorded offering of his songs. Beautiful and uniquely musical, peaceful and convicting, his lyrics bring nostalgia and goose bumps, and sometimes a lump in the throat, as he sings about love, death, war and his faith in God.
Although possessing a personal song library of hundreds of original titles, his first CD is a modest presentation of 10 original songs. A follow-up CD should come right on its heels, though, as his many fans bang on the doors requesting their favorites that were unwillingly excluded from Tavis’ debut, “Like the Seasons”.
"The combination of his earnest voice and spare guitar playing drew a lot of people into his lyric storytelling. People put down their drinks and paused their conversations to listen to this commanding performance. Tavis is a gentle man with a big heart and a strong vision - exactly the kind of guy we're happy to have involved with the QSE Mission.” – Quiksilver Edition Mission
