Is it an imprint? Yes. Is it an album? It's a compilation. Are they a crew? Maybe. The M.I.L.E.E.N.D.A.U.D.I.O.T.E.A.M. is a diverse group of producers, concentrated mainly in the greater Montreal region of Quebec. Although their methods of music production differ, their challenges and obstacles remain the same.
Future history: One hot, fateful day in the summer of 2005, Charles Horse and Kevin Larchmont were hanging out in Protohaus Studios, engaged in a strategic conversation about self-promotion and networking. They realized that each knew a nucleus of dedicated beatmakers, talented yet underexposed local artists, eager to realize the promise of strength in numbers. To draw the easy sports metaphor, here was a squad of veterans, journeymen, undrafted semi-professionals, alongside some exciting rookies -- the kind of T.E.A.M. a city like Montreal can feel proud to cheer for. The time seemed ripe to join them together under a common banner, to get them all behind a single compilation release..... Fast forward one year. As of June 2006, the advance version is mixed. Final artist invitations and song selections are in progress. Different avenues of distribution are being explored.
The members of M.E.A.T. fuse and unify numerous strains of electronic music, running the gamut, from DJ Furious' palm-tree jazziness, through the frenetic mayhem of SynthAmesk and Sons Of Sung, to the orchestrated disquiet found in works by Jeebus Windmill and Gentle Bakemono. The M.E.A.T. project will satisfy the appetite of any enthusiast of cutting-edge shit. Kevlar, Furious, and Cool Hands act as excecutive producers, delicately weaving the individual musical threads into a tapestry of sound.
