IONIC was born on the first of March 1972 in the small country of Luxembourg.
At the age of 8 years he began to play drums. As he grew up he became more interested in keyboards.
From this very young age he was fascinated by electronic music and was a fan of Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream. The appearance of the legendary Commodore C-64 computer in the early 80's marked the beginning of his musical creation & production. He started with Tracker Software and with them later produced his music on the second mindblowing computer, the AMIGA 500. Then, in order to have more control over his sound producing he bought his first synthesizer, a Casio CZ101 and later a whole bunch of Hardware filled his studio.
Developing his sound he decided to work as a Dj. In 1986 he perfomed his first public Dj set. At that time house music wasn't really understood...
Around 1988, Luxembourg caught up on acid house. Ionic's time had begun. He organised various acid house events around the country. After years of going through different phases of new beat and hardfloor, a friend, DJ Chich, introduced him to Belgium Techno.
In 1993, he started a new project with Vektor (Victor Miranda) . .
They formed a duo, "McCoy & Vektor". Their first track, "Evoluter", was a bomb for that time and filled all Dance Floors in Luxembourg. They worked together a few years. After many live shows, Vektor and McCoy developed their own style and then they started separately in their careers as producers.
In 1997 IONIC released his first record on Randy's Label (Randy Katana) BPM Dance (Netherlands) on the sub-label Tri Lamb with D-Factor. BPM Dance was very known and several well known DJ's like Macc Zimms, D-Factor, Randy etc...produced on it to . At this labels request he changed his name from McCoy to IONIC. The track 'Screwdriver' extended his reputation and gave him more gigs. Since then he has regularly spun in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and of course Luxembourg.
