About Me

I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and partly raised in Palestine, Texas. I've always loved music since I was a little kid. I grew up listening to whatever my older brother and sisters listened to- anything from funk to rock to r&b to country. My brother showed me Van Halen's "Jump" video back in '84 and at the age of 11, I was hooked to guitar based music and wanted to play the six strings. Still stuck in the 80s, I listened to a lot of pop music like Prince and the Revolution and Duran Duran. It wasn't untill after the turn of the decade when I first picked up the guitar and began composing songs before I even took lessons. Frustrated with lessons, I vowed never to formally take lessons again (my bad) and I still haven't. Around this time, the greatest thing that could happen in music happened- the alternative explosion. I began listening to and being influenced by bands such as Pearl Jam, Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins- yes I said Smashing Pumpkins (the greatest alt.rock band of the '90s). I started getting experience playing and composing songs with others in '93; consequently, I became dependant on colaborating with a friend and being inspired (4:20) to write songs. For three years, the 3 amigos partied like rockstars but far from it. Over the years, songwriting became a hobby and I know there's been over a 100 of them. It wasn't until I moved to Georgia in '04 by invitation of a good friend that I began recording. The songs you hear on my page are the songs I recorded in Smyna, Austell and Atlanta, Georgia. I recorded well over 40 songs but never finished any of them to the best of my ability due to life's distractions. I'm grateful for having the opportunity just to record the music I did. Today I still play guitar and can write a song in five minutes but I feel incomplete without someone to collaborate with- it's all about the experience with me and it always was.Oh yeah, about the Culprit Fay. It is a poem by Joseph Rodman Drake written in 1819. It is a 600 line poem with over 37 parts to it and is the longest poem I have ever voluntarily read. It is about a fairy who falls in love with a mortal maiden. Being the romantic I was in my teen years it stuck with me. The first time I read it, the ending was unexpected. Little did I know then, it would become the story of my adult life. Now the ending for me is kind of like the same old song and dance kind of thing, but it's still a good read if you can motivate yourself to finish it. music layout powered by HOT FreeLayouts.com / MyHotComments

Band Members: I'm a one-man-band I guess. I recorded my songs using a Squire Strat, Epiphone Les Paul, Squire Bass, Fostex MR8 8-track recorder, a Digitech foot pedal for effects and drum beats to keep the tempo (that's why the drums suck) and an Alesis drum machine that I used for only 2 songs because I could never figure it out. I also used a FruityLoop demo version to compose on the pc. If I had a band, I would like the members to be the people I jammed with over the years: Noe L., Vicente C., Bob G., John G., James H., Jason G., Raul P. and Paul M. May God bless you all.
Influences: The Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Parliament & Funkadelic, Alice In Chains, Bob Marley, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, The Cure, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine, Jimi Hendrix, Velvet Revolver, Audioslave, Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers, PJ Harvey, Prince & The Revolution, Led Zeppelin, B.B. King, Guns N' Roses, U2, Rush, Iron Maiden, Quickserv Johnny, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Mad Season, Mother Love Bone, Lush, Duran Duran, Talk Show, Tears For Fears, Depeche Mode, Jeff Buckley, Porno For Pyros, Living Colour, The Beatles, Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, Overwhelming Colourfast and many others.
Sounds Like: Early 90's alternative rock I guess. I like to play whatever comes from the heart and not limit myself to one genre. Sometimes a song may sound like The Smashing Pumpkins, sometimes Pearl Jam or Audioslave. If I incorporate keyboards the music may sound like Nine Inch Nails or The Cure. Even though I sound like my influences, there's something in the way I deliver it which makes it my own. Billy Corgan once said something to the effect that everything has been done. All we can do is take what we like and give it back in a different way. I like that and that is what I do.
