Line, no, her mum didn't spell it incorrectly, it's French oolala and pronounced Lyn, took up jazz singing in order to fulfill her childhood dream of singing the songs she heard on her mother's Ella Fitzgerald and Lois Armstrong records. So she began studying with well-known Australian Jazz vocalist, Helen Matthews. This journey quickly took Line to the UK and America giving her opportunities to study and work with some of the great jazz vocalists of today including Norma Winstone, Sheila Jordan, Mark Murphy, Kurt Elling, Madeline Eastman, Cleo Laine and Anita Wardell. In 2000 Line graduated from the Western Australian Conservatorium of Music, with a degree in Music Education, majoring in jazz.Line has performed in musical theatre, big band, jazz and commercial bands as well as vocal ensemble settings in Australia, UK and USA. In 2001 Line decided to certify as a Speech Level Singing (SLS) teacher studying with Seth Riggs, its creator, and his associates in Los Angeles. SLS is suitable to ALL genres, trains the singer's voice to sing with the ease, find their natural voice, strengthening and widening the singer's range and eliminating the "breaks". 100s of award winning performers have benefited from SLS including Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Ossy Osborne, Whoopi Goldberg, Val Kilmer, Chester (Lincoln Park), Nathan Lane, Luther Vandross and the late Ray Charles amongst many. Now a certified Level 3 and back in London Line is rapidly building a reputation as a highly skilled and inspiring teacher.Line has recently been appointed the new Head of Vocals at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM). Here musicians can hone and develop the skills and knowledge required to gain a career in the music industry see www.acm.ac.uk. In addition Line, as a SLS EAG, co-ordinates the education for SLS teachers in London and South England. In her spare time(!) Line runs her own busy private teaching studio in London where singers can learn vocal technique and attend workshops and courses to learn about other aspects of performance, song writing, styling etc, see www.singvocalstudio.com for more info.Like so many performers today Line has an eclectic background in music, art and life with an ongoing passion and commitment to evolve as a performer, a teacher and most of all... as an individual.Check out some of the artists in TOP FAVs who study SLS with Line including Nate James, Anita Wardell, Nerissa Campbell (USA), Angela Abelian, Darcy from The Telegraphs, Carrie (Malta), Kohene and Kash
