Before I was a MomI never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom -I had never been puked on.Pooped on.Chewed on.Peed on.I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.I slept all night. Before I was a MomI never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.Or give shots.I never looked into teary eyes and cried.I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a MomI never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.I never knew that I could love someone so much.I never knew I would love being a Mom.Before I was a Mom -I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy. Before I was a Mom -I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

ANYTHING from Stanley Kubrick or Almodovar(spelling?). I recently saw Thumbsucker and really enjoyed it, it reminded me we are all kinda messed up and thats ok. I love documentaries of all kinds. Other movies I like: Donnie Darko, Bubble Boy, The Chumscrubber, Antonia's Line, Dancer in the Dark, Trainspotting, Napoleon Dynamite, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Paperhouse, Sid&Nancy, Moonstruck, Silence of the Lambs, Full Metal Jacket, The People vs. Larry Flynt, Bubba Ho-Tep, Shaun of the Dead, A Clockwork Orange(also a good read), Death to Smoochy, Monster, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, True Romance, Legend, The Princess Bride... Again I could go on for days.
It's all Brett's fault. I NEVER used to watch TV. Now I do. I sit and stare blankly at Family Guy, Futurama, Mythbusters, The first 48, Forensic Files, The Simpson's, Clean House (I am a dork), The People's Court, etc. I also like to watch cartoons with Helena...we like Foster's home for imaginary friends and the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.
The last book I read was The Belly Button book by Sandra Boynton, this is what my life has become..but I digress. Let me tell you what I used to be........ I don't read a lot of fiction, but one of the most influential books I ever read was 1984, it sent shivers up my spine. I have never forgotten that big brother is watching. Watching us through screens in our houses that we communicate with constantly(yikes, computer nerds everywhere). I have also recently discovered Carl Hiaasen who is so funny and twisted. I have a huge collection of text and reference books. I like to read philosophy, occasionaly, it's kinda heavy. I like books on (preferrably abnormal) psychology, pharmacology and human sexuality. I have many art and photography books also some new age stuff like astrology, conspiracy theory, past lives, UFO's, palmistry, and holistic medicine. And the occasional soft core porn.. bodice ripper type trash novel. True crime facinates the sicko in me and reminds me of the extremes people can reach. The more horrific the better, truth IS stranger than fiction. I am a nerd at heart though, I read the dictionary regularly. I also love to read magazines. My all time favorite is Mental Floss. I also have sitting next to my throne copies of Scientific American Mind, Bizzare, Seed, and People (shhh...don't tell anyone)!
