LA (pronounced “lah”) is an up and coming R&B artist whose raw vocal talent and natural ability to create melodies and harmonize attracts even the skeptics. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, LA’s love for music was innate in nature. His Puerto Rican heritage helped instill his passion for rhythm and strong desire to sing. Musical talent had always run in the family. His mother, Maribel, sang in the church frequently and always encouraged him to do the same. He did just that gaining most of his performance experience as a young boy in the church.For a while, LA set aside his musical aspirations. All through high school at Cumberland Valley in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, he concentrated on athletics and his studies. It was not until 5 years ago that his ambition and desire for music was rekindled. In Frederick, Maryland, he met up with a small record label called Jenrette Music Group (JMG) where he was fortunate to meet founder, Marcus Jenrette, and R&B artist, Eric Lamont. Marcus recognized his talent almost immediately and began helping him train his vocals. Soon after, due to unforeseen circumstances, LA had to move back to Mechanicsburg so the two were never able to work on a recording project together. However, the two remain friends, and the future is already being planned.Fate is not without a sense of irony. Back in Mechanicsburg, a hip-hop artist by the name of Vega brought LA in contact with the members of Artists Over Industry (AOI) who founded Sky’s The Limit Productions (STLP). After a couple of tracks that were never released, a spark was ignited, and he was asked to join the STLP crew. Soon after, the addition of producer/hip-hop artist Actual Facts proved to be the “nail in the coffin.” The rest is history in the making.Currently, LA is working on the highly anticipated release of his debut album.
