THE CHANGE FOR HIP HOP IS HERE!

About Me

They say Hip Hop is due for a change. The change is here and his name is Alepat. Alepat a native Atlantan began his musical walk in grade school spitting rhymes in between classes. By High school he put his money together to record a demo. After recording several demos in home studios he decided to step it up and visit a local studio called Da Trap where all the hood brothers went to record. During a (past the mic) session the owner of an independent Rap Label offered him cash on the spot to come aboard his team. Loyalty, which is one of Alepats strongest attributes, also became his biggest liability. After being with the Independent label but with no contractual obligation he was introduced to multi-platinum Grammy award winning producer and songwriter Darrell Simmons. He then worked on two songs with the European group Cleopatra. This is when loyalty became a liability for Alepat. To appease the label, to which he had no contractual obligation, he pulled out of the deal with Simmons and the songs with Cleopatra were never released. Although seeming to be a serious set back at the time, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as Alepat had not yet turned into the person he was to be. Alepat learned a lot about himself on the gangsta rap label. He learned that he was different, that he had different thoughts, thoughts that he couldnt explain at the time, thoughts about his life and the direction of it, It caused him to stop rapping all together for a couple of years. He started reading the bible and then several Israelite books. Then everything he had gone through made sense. He became more and more interested in the social and economic status of the Hood. Coming from a gangsta rap background he was used to dealing with the hard issues facing his people but now with a deeper level of commitment. Realizing the rule of the streets and knowing Jay Zs position saying that he had to dumb down for his audience. Alepat knew that educating the streets would be a hard job. So he has developed a technique he calls ignore-oweldge. A technique in which he displays his knowledge in an ignorant way that the street can understand. Heavily influenced by the late great Tupac Shakur who wasnt afraid to push the envelope and do something outside the lines. Alepat believes that it is time for hip hop to change, to take a new direction. A direction that explains more than just life on the block, but life outside our block and how it pertains to us, THE NEW HIP HOP GENERATION.
