like a weeping Father of a dying baby in an incubator, pressing His hands and face to the glass, whispering,"hello, beloved. i am here."broken, wanting nothing but to hold His baby, but knowing one touch could be the end.so He came down, became like the child in the incubator, weak, yes, helpless, yes. but now, He could touch His lovely, could hold her limp hand and say"hello, beloved. i am here."and so she watched, as He taught her how to treat the sick, how to feed the hungry, the others in the incubator.but she would forget, become entralled with the color of the fabric or the attention of another or her own incapabilities.then she would hear a quiet knock, see His face reflected in the eyes of the others, and remember His lips,"hello, beloved. i am here."renewed, she returns to her work, dressing wounds cooking meals and cleaning bed pans, with a smile, and"hello, beloved. i am here."they would look at her, ask her why, and she would point, sometimes to the Father but sometimes to herself.after, she would feel the stern words, His eyes over her, seeing her pride,"hello, beloved. i am here."remorseful, she would remember that she was not the one, standing outside the incubator.after long, there were many children, who treated the sick and fed the hungry and honor the One who still, after all these years, presses His palms to the glass and whispers,"hello, beloved. i am here."until the day comes when there are no sick or hungry and the incubator is no longer needed. and He gathers all His children, touches their healthy hearts,"hello, beloved. i am here."By: Cat Muncal
