Influences: I get inspired by a lot of things, day-to-day emotions of life, film & video games, technology, iconic collectables, clubs, fellow musicians and the outdoors.
My musical roots lay with the likes of The Clash, FSOL, B.A.D, Pistols, P.I.L, Vangelis, Plastikman, Renegade Soundwave, Red Snaper, The Aloof, DJ Krush, Sabres Of Paradise, Dub, John Carpenter, Interpol, early Stones, Depth Charge, The Black Dog, Black Keys, Electronica, film soundtracks, etc.
I got into the left of field, underground, independant, acid house type music scene through friends, recomendations at local record shops, clubs like Checkpoint Chalrie and parties which we used to go to and put on in my area, as well as checking bands and the likes of the Shamen, System 7, Orbital et al at big events. Hats off to Andrew Weatherall, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hatwin, Dave Clarke, Colin Dale, Leftfield, Mr C, John Peel (RIP), Shadow, Craig Richards, Jeff Mills, Derrick May and the rest!
The DJing thing started for me when I saw a friend playing vinyl at a cool little bar and something just clicked in my head, I knew I had to get my mitts on some turntables and a mixer. If you forget about the whole beat matching element of DJing and just fade from track to track its still a magical thing and feeling to just merge sounds together.
I still love to see a proper DJ being given the time to create a real vibe to a set by playing slow tracks and interlinking them with other tempos and atmospheries rather than just straight 4/4 mixing. Thats how most DJ's played when I first started going out and is what I always keep in mind when I play.
Many other things in life make me tick: drawing, Bill Hicks (RIP), Japanamation, Punk, Sci-Fi, THX1138, skateboarding, Akira, My family, Star Wars (I was born in the seventees, it's mandatory), Kubrick, Anime, documentaries, NINTENDO (must play more!), Get Carter, friends, animals, fellow musicians, bands, walking my dog, conversations, trying new stuff and of course the unknown........
