My Interests

My daughter....great books, great ideas, great movies, great restaurants, great music, great conversation, great times! Some of the things I enjoy are museums, cooking, the theatre, the symphony, BASKETBALL, and striving to achieve true self-actualization.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone interested in intelligent dialogue, networking, or being friends.

Music:

I like all types. However, I prefer REAL jazz (ie. Coltrane, Monk, Jimmie Smith, Miles Davis, etc.); REAL hip hop/Rap (ie. OutKast, The Roots, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, etc.;"true-school" artists-Public Enemy, N.W.A., U.G.K.(R.I.P. Chad Butler), Geto Boys, etc.); classic Rhythm and Blues/Soul/Funk; classical (ie. Wagner, Mozart, etc.); Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Queen, Korn, etc.; music by any artist who views his creations as an art form and not just as a vehicle for his proverbial fifteen minutes. I HAVE to have my XM Radio...lol. :oD.. Outkast Videos | Booking Calendar | Seattle Homes For Sale

Movies:

Goodbye Uncle Tom, Audition, Snatch, Cabin In the Sky, The Roots series, The Godfather Trilogy, Donnie Brascoe, City Of God, The Spook Who Sat By The Door (excellent novel and movie), X, the list goes on and on....

Television:

I don't watch a lot of television. A true oxymoron: reality television! :-/ However, the ESPN channels beckon me frequently...lol.

Books:

A handful of my favorites are: "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison, "On Beauty" by Zadie Smith, "The Spook Who Sat By The Door" by Sam Greenlee, "Cat's Cradle" by Kurt Vonnegut, "The Autobiography of An Ex-Colored Man" by James Weldon Johnson, "The Fire Next Time" by James Baldwin, "Dirty Havana Trilogy" by Pedro Juan Gutierrez, "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess; "On The Road" by Jack Kerouac; "Fear and Trembling" by Soren Kierkegaard; almost anything by Walter Mosley or John Grisham or Toni Morrison.

Heroes:

My beautiful daughter, my incredible father, my Saint of a grandmother (1927-2006)...
