After playing gigs in and around stersund for about four years his brother turned him on to Mike Stern which set him on a course of jazz study that continues to this day. From 1997 to 2001 Patrik enrolled in the Jazz Musicians Programme at Trondheim Music Conservatory where he studied with John Pl Inderberg, Erling Aksdal, Gunnar Andreas Berg and Jukkis Outila while taking part in lessons and/or clinics with John Abercrombie, Lars Danielsson, Ben Monder, Yuri Honning, and Gary Peacock among others.During this time he was getting alot of gig experience playing with Eric Von Essen, John Pl Inderberg, Lasse Hrnfeldt and Roy Okutani while spending many hours learning solos by Joe Pass, Allan Holdsworth and John Scofield. Patrik's talent was recognized when he was awarded the New Talent award for his performance in the 1999 festspelen i stersund annual jazzfestival.After graduating Patrik accepted a position as an instructor of jazz theory, eartraining and guitar at birka folkhgskola conservatory where he enjoys teaching new musicians the structure of music and how to freely express themselves through improvising.You can catch Patrik gigging with a wide range of musicians these days, you are as likely to see him in a burning straight-ahead jazz bebop gig, supporting the renowned saxaphonists Krister Andersson and Karl-Martin Almqvist or backing pop and jazz singers like Lindha Svantesson or Linda Petterson, while also leading his own high energy fusion groups.Patrik has recorded with the prestigious Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and the Roy Okutani Quintet and is continually in demand for other various recording projects.
