About Me

Writing this reminds me of when we were growing up. You know it's like the first day of class at a new school. Here you are walking into a room full of people you don't know, And the teacher is like "This is Chris he is a new student at our school, Chris why don't you tell us about yourself". So there you are in front of 40 strangers that are staring at you like you are about to give them the solution for world peace. All the while in your head you are trying to remember what your favorite color is. My life has been a prolonged series of events like these. So I think I have become immune to the uneasy/nervous feeling that most people experience in this situation. I have lived all over the south in the twenty-five years I have been alive. Some of it was with the parents, but most of it was on my own after I turned sixteen. I love meeting and getting to know new people. At the same time I have some of the best friends in the world. The various backgrounds of the people you encounter during life will do more to influence and question your own perception on how things should be. I believe this knowledge to be more valuable than anything. Only because you have to seek it out for yourself.Recently I moved to South Carolina to work with my brother . I have lived just outside of Columbia for the past year. I have two dogs Nikko and Laney, and they keep me very entertained. I like to fish, and do so almost everyday. I am really into cars, and I don't think that will ever change. I am done with school for the time being mostly because I am so busy with the company. Who knows perhaps I will return one day to further my education, but at this point I don't know when. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places, but who doesn't. I have never been out of the country, yet I am still young and have lots of time left. I would really like to spend time in Australia some day. Although if I go I don't know if I will ever come back. I dig being outdoors especially in South Carolina because the weather is so beautiful. I am down with the south and look forward to coming home every time I leave. Oh yea and my favorite color is blue."A vital element in keeping the peace is our military establishment. Our arms must be mighty, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be tempted to risk his own destruction...This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every statehouse, every office of the federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals so that security and liberty may prosper together".Dwight D. Eisenhower

For this is still a place where you must have either been born or have "people" there, to feel it is your native ground.Natives will tell you this. They are proud to be Americans, but they are also proud to be Virginians, South Carolinians, Tennesseans, and Texans. But they are conscious of another loyalty too, one that transcends the usual ties of national patriotism and state pride. It is a loyalty to a place where habits are strong and memories are long. If those memories could speak, they would tell stories of a region powerfully shaped by its history and determined to pass it on to future generations". Tim Jacobson "Heritage of the South."
