Joey had an interest in music from the age of 11 with his mothers taste in black music constantly upon him, he was regularly hearing Soul, Funk and Disco on a regular basis around the house. Joey bought as many records as possible by working weekends to support his vinyl addiction. Finally at the age of 15 he bought his first set of Technics 1200s and a mixer. Having taught himself to mix, he entered the DMC Mixing Championships at the age of 17 where he was knocked out by DJ Pogo in the regional finals.
