The band was formed in Seinäjoki back in year 1999, a few months after Tapio had been spreading word about his will to put up a band. Name was originally Mortifier, but it had to be changed being caused by another band already using it.
However, line-up remained the same on three of our first demos which were recorded under varying names. After third demo, the original drummer Jere Luokkamäki decided to leave the band, causing a little break in our action. Luckily it was only temporary, and soon we found our second drummer Anssi Kaunismäki. At that time the name also changed to Mortyfear.
After short warm-up the 4th demo was recorded and a few gigs were played, but then the drummer's throne became empty again. After recess of one year we hit the jackpot in form of Henri Yli-Rahko and the songs for the 5th demo were rehearsed in one month. 5th demo was recorded without our original second guitarist Antti Hokkala, whose ideas about Mortyfear were not too familiar to other members. Soon after the recording sessions the line-up was again reinforced with second guitarist. With the abovementioned crew we went to studio to record 9 new songs which will be released as a full length album. The publication schedule remains a mystery but we hope it to happen during 2006.
Mortyfear is distinguished from the mass with aggressive songs, self-dependent gloomy and firm sound and also with accurate playing and deliberate tempo turnovers. The entity consists of dominating guitar riffs, machine gun battery, growling basses and on top of it all strong vocals from every aspect you can think of. In lyrics, the band is handling the darkest realms of human mind. Mortyfear's rolling, furious and grim music is emotionally appealing and remains into listener's mind whether one likes it or not.
Mortyfear is not in any sense â€nice†music, we're not trying to create something conventional that fits for everyone. It's an act that you cannot ignore. While onstage, the band sounds the same as on the record. The threatening, aggresive noise is rolled over listeners, which causes chaotic reactions among the audience. Every song is a flying fist, pointed on your fragile head.
The band is now creating their newest album, which will be stronger, more furious and aggressive than before. Everything will come out brutal - just wait and see.
