About Me

About
The Author

My Name is Ashley. I live in Gilbert Arizona with my mom, stepfather, and two sisters, and even though I am pretty burnt out on the place seeing as how I’ve been here since birth, it’s home for the time being, there’s not much I can do about it at the moment. I have plans of maybe spending sometime in Canada though in the future.
I’m an aspiring author who works at the Southeast Regional Library as a page. Basically I put books in order and shelve them but I am working toward becoming a librarian assistant. It’s a pretty great place, and though I tend to complain about it a lot, I am probably one of the few people in this world who actually loves their job. I love it. It makes me feel important because it’s the only thing outside of writing that I’ve ever been good at. I was never a school kind of person, but once I left that place and entered the work place, life has gotten so much better. Everybody is kind to me, and it’s an author’s paradise.
Ever since I got a job at the Library I’ve become a huge bookworm. You will rarely ever see me without a book in my hands these days, and I can spend hours reading them. It is my greatest escape. I love a good story and a good story in my definition is basically anything that sparks my interest. I can’t read books that are slow paced though, those drive me crazy. The action has to happen right away. Though, I will admit there have been exceptions because when the action does finally happen, they make up for being slow.
My favorite types of books are thrillers with lots of action, and lots of suspense. I’ve been very big into the Romance Thrillers lately. I even like the stories about mythical creatures too, such as vampires, werewolves, fairies, witches, ghosts…I love them all.
That’s as far as reading goes. I’ve become very interested in soap operas lately as well, and though people tend to make fun of me for that, as an aspiring author I think every good writer has to watch them, because believe it or not, they help a lot! The one soap opera that I watch called Bold & The Beautiful has some excellent story lines that tend to draw me in the minute I sit down and watch the show. And though One Tree Hill isn’t really a soap opera, it’s remotely close to one and all of the story lines that Mark has created for that show are just brilliant. So brilliant that I often find myself emotionally attached to the show.
As far as my own writing goes, I’ve been writing since I was twelve years old and even though my work has definitely grown since then, I know there is still room for improvement. I am nowhere near ready to publish anything, but that is my goal. Right now, I am stuck in Fan Fiction. That’s what got me started, is writing Fan Fiction about the Backstreet Boys. Those five men have deeply impacted my writing over the years and I wouldn’t be where I am at today, if it weren’t for them and their beautiful music.
I know I have to get past the Fan Fiction and write some original stuff if I ever want to publish anything, but I still have to finish my current projects first before I can even begin to start anything else, otherwise I might go crazy!
So for the time being, when I’m not writing fan fiction, I spend my time reading the work of other brilliant authors who are all ready where I want to be and I learn from them.
I think it would be just amazing to get all of my favorite authors all in one room and just ask them about all of their techniques. Authors such as, J.K Rowling, Christopher Golden, Karen Marie Moaning, Stephanie Meyer, Mary Higgins Clark, Iris Johanson, and Christine Warren. That would be awesome. I would be in paradise.

"Don't ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you you can’t do it. You want something, go get it. Period. All right?"

- Will Smith in The Pursuit Of Happyness

-------------

Mia: I want to help someone. I want to reach that girl or that boy who wakes up one day and feels like its not worth it anymore."

Peyton: Why because you've been that person?

Mia: Maybe, it's like, I don't need to be famous, and I don't need all the money in the world. It's not about that. It's about that girl who's have a horrible day and she hears your song and for five minutes there's hope, you know? It's like, for five minutes the worlds not such a scary place for her anymore. You asked what's going to be enough, that'll be enough, that'll be more than enough.

Pretty as a flower can be
That's how she looks to me
Smile's as beautiful as rainbow
At times she can be shy though
She understands me like no other
Except for maybe my own mother
She's gentle as a dove
Giving people who've earned it her love
Ashley is her name
Life without her wouldn't be the same
She can make me smile when no one else can
She's always there to lend a helping hand
In my heart she has a place
No one else can have her space

- Poem written by Lenni for our story No Matter What

"I'd say the biggest adventure I ever had was the day I took off on my big wheel when I was six years old. At the time we lived at the top of Lookout Mountain Road and I rode it all the way down to Laurel Canyon, then all the way down Laurel Canyon to Sunset Boulevard, which, all in all, is just over two miles. I wasn't lost, I had a plan: I was going to move into a toy store, and live there for the rest of my life. I guess I've always been determined. Sure, there were many times that I wanted to get away from home as a kid, but I have no regrets about how I was raised. If it had been any different, if I'd been born just one minute later, or in the wrong place at the right time or vice versa, the life that I've lived and come to love would not exist. And that is a situation that I wouldn't want to consider in the slightest."

- Slash in his book

-------------

"Experiencing yourself out of context, divorced from your usual point of view, scews your perspective - it's like hearing your voice on an answering machine, it's almost like meeting a stranger; or discovering a talent you never knew you had. The first time I plucked a melody out on a guitar well enough that it sounded like the original was a bit like that. The more I learned to play guitar, the more I felt like a ventriloquis: I recognized my own creative voice filtered through the six strings, but it was also something else entirely. Notes and chords have become my second language and, more often then not, that vocabulary expresses what I feel when language fails me. The guitar is my conscience. To whenever i've lost my way, it brought me back to center; whenever I forget, it reminds me why i'm here."

- Slash in his book

"The Sight of a guitar still turns me on"

- Slash in his book

"I need sometime to find myself within me and I need sometime to find true love. If I don't I won't stop tryin' and if I can't I won't keep lyin'...yes What do people really want? They wanna be happy I wanna be happy"

- AJ McLean

-------------

"Do what you love, fuck everything else"

Terri Fletcher: Have you ever lost anyone?
Mr. Torvald: Yeah.
Terri Fletcher: I just can't let this go.
Mr. Torvald: Well, you're an artist and artists feel things differently than regular people. Look at patsy Cline or Billie Hodliday. You can hear it in their voice. Or, Vincent van Gogh. Cut off his ear, but hey, he could paint.
Terri Fletcher: Vincent van Gogh killed himself.
Mr. Torvald: That's right. That's a bad example. Hey, I'm a music teacher not a shrink. What do you expect? I guess... what I'm trying to say is, artists convey emotion. They make an audience feel what they're feeling. You know, that's what it's all about, right? You just have to find a way to take what's in here [Points to his head]
Mr. Torvald: and put it in here [points to his heart]

Hello?

Hello?

Dad, it's Carmen.

I'm glad you called.

-I just... I want...

-It's all right. You don't... You don't have to apologize, sweetheart. You were upset. I know.

-No, Dad, you don't know. That's just it, you've never known...because I've never been able to tell you.

Tell me what?

That I'm angry with you, Dad. This entire thing. About you, and Lydia and the kids...

It's my fault. I should have told you about them before, and I'm sorry.

Yeah, you should've warned me, but it's more than that. It's the fact that you've found yourself this new family...and I feel like some outsider who doesn't even belong to you anymore. It's like you traded me and Mom in for something that you thought was better...and I wanna know why. Are you ashamed of me? Are you embarrassed? Just tell me, Dad, what did I do wrong? Why did you leave? Why did you have to go? And then tell me that we were gonna be closer? But that never happened. Dad, why does Paul visit his alcoholic dad every month...but you only visit me twice a year? And I know...you just seem so happy about being Paul and Krista's dad...but you never even had the time to be mine.

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

I wish that were enough, Dad.

Finding Noel - By Richard Evans
When I wrote my first novel, The Christmas Box, I never imagined it would become an international bestseller. It was a story for my two (then) little girls. But as I wrote, I realized that it was also for my mother -- to ease her pain over losing a child.

My mother was my staunchest supporter and my biggest fan. A receptionist at a doctor's office, she would sell my book (sometimes by the case!) to patients in the waiting room. When The Christmas Box hit &035;1 on the New York Times bestseller list, no one, including me, was more excited than my mother.

I lost my mother on Valentine's Day of 2006. After weeks of struggling with my grief, I decided I would write a story for her. As she loved Christmas, I chose to write a Christmas novel, my first since The Christmas Box.

Finding Noel is about how people come into our lives for a reason. It is a love story about Macy and Mark, two young people from different worlds.

I'm sorry that this Christmas, for the first time since I became a writer, I won't be able to present my mother with a copy of my book. I think she would have enjoyed reading it. But, then again, I'm not certain that she hasn't.

As you read Finding Noel, I hope that you enjoy the journey and feel the same powerful emotions I felt as the story came to me.

Fondly,

Richard Evans

When Kellen Carmichael was born, she was a boy. Or at least that is what her mother believes. Her mother swears that through her fever and illness, she still saw her baby for a moment, and that baby was a boy. By the time she got home two weeks later and was recovered enough to care for the baby, she discovered that instead she had a daughter. Kellen has been living with her mother’s delusions ever since. Convinced that her daughter would change back into a son, her mother made her dress as a boy and act like one. While Kellen and everyone around here knew she wasn’t really a boy, Kellen still slipped into the lifestyle to please her mother and keep down the mayhem at home. Even when a Truth-Teller informs her mother that Kellen has always been a girl, her mother will not let go of that glimpse on the birthing bed.

And so Kellen lives a life where she never quite fits in, not accepted as a boy, and too rough for the other girls. When she is finally made to go to school at the age of eleven, she meets another outsider, Gryffin, whose legs were tangled at birth and are of little use to him now without crutches. The two develop a quick friendship, both seeing past how the world views them. This friendship helps Kellen see who she really is, and she meets others who accept her for herself. Life is perfect for a time, as she’s allowed to wear skirts, work at an inn with people who care about her, and be with her best friend Gryffin everyday.

All that changes when the magic of the Dream-Maker chooses Gryffin for its new host, and suddenly Kellen is no longer sure of her place in the world, nor who she might become. My

About My Fan Fiction –First of all, nothing you read is real. It’s all made up from my own imagination. So don’t freak out on me okay?
Secondly, yes I know they all have to do with abuse and/or the main character’s parent’s dying and all that jazz. And I know those are very old story lines in the fan fiction world but when I first started writing them it wasn’t so popular. These are all projects that I’ve been working on for years and I am trying to finish them so that I can then move into an entirely different direction. So don’t judge me on that okay?
Thirdly, even though I use my own name in most of my fanfics, none of my stories are written from personal experience. Again, they are all made up from my imagination. I do tend to put pieces of my personality into my characters a lot of the time…and maybe sometimes my own emotions or feelings but that’s about it. I tend to get really into my writing and I’ve been known to make a few people cry. I’ve been told that I have a way of grabbing hold of people’s emotions which doesn’t surprise me because I know I’ve always been very sensitive and perceptive about people and the way they feel. I pick up on those things very easily.
Lastly, I enjoy feedback. So feel free to give it to me. It really makes my day when I get positive comments on my work – or even advice on how I can do better – in a lighthearted gentle way. No Matter What
