About Me

I use wooden instruments, for the most part. Acoustic guitars both big and small, an antique reed organ, one of the old grands at the eastman school, an electric guitar here and there. But then there are the other instruments that I love: broken radios and amplifiers, walkie talkies, run-out grooves, matlab, bat detectors, huge pvc tubes cut to resonate at certain pitches - in short, anything that makes noises that I like or changes noises into ones I like better. This was my first review... it breaks my heart into some very nice pieces:Brimijoin creates music that is so deceptively fragile that it is a wonder listeners dont break with the first note. Escaping the need to belong to a specific genre Brimijoin successfully has formed a unique sound. A light brigade comprised of acoustic guitar and a plethora of other acoustic instruments, with just one listen the limitations of music melt away. The only thing that keeps Brimijoins feet on the ground is the emotional weight that pours from the delicate compositions. Forget the classical background; Brimijoin is a masterful and intuitive singer/songwriter who bends the rules of traditional song structure. Owens songs are unswervingly honest. Full of texture his lullaby harmonies are bound to strike a chord in the listener. Go through enough extremes in life and youll find lyrical balance. Through the gorgeous melancholy you will find hope within the human mind and spirit. Brimijoin is a must see live performance, and if you are lucky you will get a free CD.

After a long quiet period, I have added a few new songs here. The recordings are really just one step removed from a handheld recorder in a cabin in the woods in Maine, but it should give everyone an ...

[overjoyed]

My guitar is back from the shop. The city of Syracuse never looked more lovely than it did on the gray Saturday afternoon we arrived to trade pieces of paper for music. The guitar sounds divine and ...

in the meantime...

My guitar is still in the shop, likely still with no neck on her - a trying time for me, no doubt - so I put a couple older songs up for people to listen to. 'Two' was recorded back in 1999 in Minnea...
