Structure:
Born Sept.4, 1980 on the eastside of Detroit MI. as Brian Jay Mitchell. His mom was a seamstress born the daughter of an African American man and a German woman. His father a singer songwriter of the late 80s and early 90s was born of Irish and Indian descent. Together they created a skillful, artistic, and poised music acrobat…Structure. Through his life Structure has done it all from Bow hunting and skiing the hills of Upper Michigan to riding crotch rockets and Cutlasses on 20s in the city streets of Detroit. As a child fighting tended to be his only way to cope with the absence of his father and dealing with another man taking his fathers position thus beginning a leak that would fuel a fiery rage in his disposition in the cycle of life. His interest in music began at a young age hearing his father sing and an uncle that sang with such artist as Dolly Parton, the Winans, and also the California Raisin’s. Structures father was never apart of his families struggle nor its happiness which inturn is one of the major topics of his music and influenced him to become a strong m.c. early in his teenage years. With his mom being the backbone of the household and having seen others fail before him it was suggested that Structure stay away from the streets and music, and both understood that they went hand and hand. Deciding that singing was not the direction for him but yet wanting still to find a way to express through words, poetry was perfect. It was not until colaborating with one of his teenage associates in the mid 90s that Structure decided only after hearing his (Key Diego) unique style that Hip-Hop was his true calling.
