Babylon Party Machine is the most explored side project of solo ska-punk musician and former Flaming Tsunamis keyboardist Matt Wixson. Sometimes a person can just get burnt out writing ska, punk, reggae, and folk music. BPM was created to break the monotony for one musician. There are no guitars, horns, or real life drums involved. The only sounds from the real world are vocals, and even then, only sometimes. The rest is an assembly of drum loops, samples, and lots and lots of synths. The keyboard is really the star of the project. With BPM, Matt Wixson creates Jamaican-inspired music filtered through his passing interest in electronic music. Reggae has become digital, ska has been remixed, but this is the first instance of an original, circuitry-driven ska sound. Some may say the songs aren't good, and some may disagree, but nobody can deny that at least it's an attempt to expand a fairly conservative genre with new ideas.
Welcome to the Nth Wave, motherfuckers.

"my wife and i have been trying to have a child but we recently found out she was barren. it was a sad deal, i mean having children was one of my wife's biggest goals in life. but the other day she logged onto myspace and heard matt wixson's new project and BECAME FERTILE!!!! i dont know how it happened but it is truly a blessing. and in moments afterward listening to "snakes on a plane" she became pregnant. THANKS MATT WIXSON!!!!!!!!!
