About Me

Check it out on Raze & Lava Flo's site!

Lava Flo (San) has always had a passion for the arts, fascinated by the creative breadth one's imagination holds especially when coupled with experimentation. Since the age of 8 she has enjoyed playing instruments such as the Spanish Guitar and more recently the Tabla, exploring written forms such as poetry and short stories. Ultimately, intrigued by personal expression and the diversity of the voice as an instrument, Lava Flo has placed her energies into developing her skills as a singer/song-writer/lyricist.

In 2002, after moving to the creative hub of Moseley in Birmingham, Lava Flo initially trained with vocal coaches before moving on to recording and performing her own songs with Digital Animal. She now works with various producers, bringing the tracks to life on stage at local gigs. Producers include Raze (who has received positive feedback from Hip Hop Connection for his work with up and coming talent Reggiimental (MC) and from Virgin Records for his work with Lava Flo) and Roeg Du Casq (DJ & radio show presenter).

She has benefitted greatly from feedback provided by DJ Cro (New Style Radio: Main Ingredient) and also long term partner (DJ) Shaolin (who has been running Prosession and Autumn for many years from the Ministry Bar to the Medicine Bar)

Recently, Lava Flo has featured on 2 vinyl releases with producer DJ Trax on Paradox's label Outsider ("Used by You", "Slip Away"). She enjoys working with other musicians and producers resulting in a colourful range of Funk, Drum n Bass, Cinematic and Hip Hop. Enquiries are welcomed from people interested in collaborating on individual tracks or live gigs.

Having set up her own studio, she thoroughly enjoys involvement in the production process, in particular recording and editing vocals and assisting with the mixdowns and mastering. She often works with other producers, by recording and editing vocals for their tracks and sending the a cappellas to them for the final mixdown.

The Raze & Lava Flo debut album is out now, and the fusion of their Hip Hop, Soul and Jazz influences really come into their own.

Lava Flo follows the teachings of the Supreme Master Ching Hai and whilst she has written many spiritual songs, she is keen to now direct her attention to a much greater extent on this aspect of her song-writing.
