J-Cray-Z started working on rap music in 2001 but didn't get serious until roughly 2003 when he heard other UK rappers such as the duo Blood & Jones and Jalporte. Since then he has released ep's and mini albums with some success locally.
In 2006 he released the mixtape Dubniverse to the online comunity taking its name from Jalporte's Dub States with mixed reviews. The record consisted of a selection of dubs and original material and can be found on datpiff.com to download for free
In early 2007 he started work with his long time friend and rap cohort Krusty G on their debut LP 'The Picnic' under the name of the Gracious Bears. The album, though as yet incomplete, has guest rappers including Dave Rodgers and Jalporte. It also spawned an early release in the form of an ep titled 'The Rebirth' which included tracks from the upcoming album and some re-releases from the Dubniverse mixtape.
In March of 2008 J decided to head back in a solo direction while work continued on the Gracious Bears LP and Kruty G's own solo ep. With that decision he got in touch with Shadowville Productions and got some beats together with them to work on new tracks. The results can now be found on this page with the songs 'Fuck You Fucks' which is a direct response to the people that gave him trouble over his mixtape and 'Wyborn' which is about his unborn son.
His new album 'Focus' is currently in production and could be out at any point.....
