Actors for Autism

About Me

Actors for Autism is a non-profit organization comprised of individuals in the entertainment industry who are dedicated to the advancement, education and exposure of people on the autistic spectrum. We believe people on the autistic spectrum have the right to live in and be part of their community. Full inclusion should be a reality not a dream. Families with children on the autistic spectrum should get the supports they need to maintain a healthy family. People on the autistic spectrum should be able to receive the training they need for their chosen profession and earn a living as fully integrated members of society. AFA's goals are to create opportunities for people on the autistic spectrum by providing scholarships for training in all aspects of the entertainment industry including: acting, animation, music, broadcasting, theatre, dance and film-making. Enhancing the quality of life and leading to a vibrant tomorrow.

On the third Thursday of every month we hold an Open Mic Night, which is a place for people with and without disabilities to perform in front of a live audience. Monologues, scenes, poems and songs are all welcome. Come to rehearse or try something new in a supportive nurturing environment. Next Open Mic Night is on Thursday, May 17, 2007.
