Sacha always knew that she was going to be a fashion and accessories designer, the clincher came at the age of 9 when she won a competiton at Cordwainer’s College, creating a number of outfits and shoes with singer / actress / model Grace Jones as an inspiration. She continued to design and illustrate collections and make freehand garments until she gained a place to study at Central Saint Martins, leaving with a degree in BA Fashion Design Womenswear. Exploring a love of colour and more of a textile approach to fabrics and surface textures.After various stints in editorial and magazine styling, she worked for a number of small design houses and companies, working with clothing and accessories from the conception right through to the production and retailling, which allowed her to hone the commercial and technical skills that enabled her to start her own small company with a few sketches and a bagful of leather.Her main incentive for concentrating on leather bags and accessories is as quoted:“I’m not one of these women who can carry around a handbag the size of a credit card, and after buying many bags that weren’t quite right I decided to make my own. I like to carry larger, brightly coloured bags that are a statement in themselves and brighten up an outfit, so basically I design large, brightly coloured bags!”In order to create an original and distinctive brand, Sacha employed the techniques of applique and cut leatherwork and combined them with her inspirations, which resulted in beautiful handmade one of a kind pieces that are truly modern and reflect her approach to design. Most of the appliqued designs are drawn from nature – the feathers, scales, insects and trademark lilies that adorn them are motifs that have appeared in varying guises since childhood. Combining these with sensuous leather textures and vividly surprising colour combinations have produced bags and accessories that appeal to a woman looking for jaw-dropping luxury leather pieces.Importantly, each piece is entirely handmade by the designer, She cuts and sews every bag from start to finish, as well as dyeing velvet for the linings.
